[1-(5-Bromo-2-oxidobenzyl-idene)thio-semicarbazidato-?(3)O,N(1),S](pyridine-?N)nickel(II).

ABSTRACT: The reaction of 5-bromo-salicyl-aldehyde thio-semicarbazone with nickel acetate tetra-hydrate and pyridine yielded the title compound, [Ni(C(8)H(6)BrN(3)OS)(C(5)H(5)N)]. The Ni(II) atom is four-coordinated in a square-planar environment by one deprotonated dianionic thio-semicarbazone ligand, acting in a tridentate chelating mode through N, O and S atoms forming two metalla-rings, and by one pyridine mol-ecule. The complex mol-ecules are linked into dimers by pairs of centrosym-metrical N-H?N inter-actions. In addition, mol-ecules are connected through inter-molecular Br?Br inter-actions [3.545?(1)?Å], forming chains along the b-axis direction.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, [Cu(C(14)H(11)N(3)OS)(C(5)H(5)N)], the Cu(II) atom exhibits a slightly distorted square-planar CuN(2)OS coordination polyhedron consisting of a phenyl O, an azomethine N and a thio-amide S atom from the tridentate thio-semicarbazonate dianion, and the N atom of a pyridine mol-ecule. The thio-semicarbazonate ligand exists in the thiol tautomeric form as an E isomer. Rotational disorder of the pyridine and phenyl rings in a 1:1 ratio of the respective components is observed. An extensive network of weak N-H?S, C-H?O, C-H?N and C-H?S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions consolidates the structure.

Project description:In the title mol-ecular complex, [Ni(C3H5OS2)2(C5H4BrN)2], the Ni(2+) cation is located on a centre of inversion and has a distorted octa-hedral N2S4 environment defined by two chelating xanthate ligands and two monodentate pyridine ligands. The C-S bond lengths of the thio-carboxyl-ate group are indicative of a delocalized bond and the O-Csp (2) bond is considerably shorter than the O-Csp (3) bond, consistent with a significant contribution of one resonance form of the xanthate anion that features a formal C=O+ unit and a negative charge on each of the S atoms. The packing of the mol-ecules is stabilized by C-H⋯S and C-H⋯π inter-actions. In addition, π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.797 (3) Å] are also present. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are arranged in rows along [100], forming layers parallel to (010) and (001).

Project description:In the crystal structure of the centrosymmetric binuclear title complex, [Ni(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2)O(2)S)(2)(CH(3)OH)(4)], there are inter-molecular O-H?O, O-H?N and O-H?S hydrogen bonds. These help to stabilize the structure and link the mol-ecules, forming a three-dimensional network structure. The Ni(2+) cation exists in a slightly distorted octahedral NiNO(5) coordination environment. The thio-phene rings are disordered over two equivalent conformations with occupancies of 0.881?(3) and 0.119?(3).

Project description:In the title complex, [Cd(C12H11N4S2)I(C12H12N4S2)], the Cd(II) ion is penta-coordinated by two thio-semicarbazone ligands (one neutral and the other anionic) and one iodide ion in a distorted square pyramidal (τ = 0.35) geometry. The central ion is coordinated by the thia-zole N atom, the thio-ureido N and the S atom of the deprotonated thio-semicarbazone ligand. The other ligand is linked with the central ion through the C=S group. The deprotonated ligand intra-molecularly hydrogen bonds to the thia-zole ring N atom, while the ligand forms an inter-molecular hydrogen bond to the thiol-ate S atom of the second ligand. The deprotonation of the tridentate ligand and its coordination to the Cd(II) ion via the S atom strikingly affects the C-S bond lengths. The C-S bond lengths in the neutral and deprotonated ligands in the metal complex are 1.709 (3) and 1.748 (2) Å, respectively, whereas it is 1.671 (3) Å in the free ligand. In the metal complex, the Cd-S distances are 2.6449 (6) and 2.5510 (6) Å. The Cd-I bond length is 2.7860 (2) Å.

Project description:Reaction of Co(NCS)2 and Zn(NCS)2 with 4-pyridine-thio-amide led to the formation of compounds with composition [Co(NCS)2(C6H6N2S)4]·H2O (1) and [Zn(NCS)2(C6H6N2S)2] (2), respectively. The asymmetric unit of compound 1, consists of one cobalt(II) cation, two thio-cyanate anions, four 4-pyridine-thio-amide ligands and one water mol-ecule whereas that of compound 2 comprises one zinc(II) cation that is located on a twofold rotation axis as well as one thio-cyanate anion and one 4-pyridine-thio-amide ligand in general positions. In the structure of compound 1, the cobalt(II) cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminal N-bonding thio-cyanate anions and by the N atoms of four 4-pyridine-thio-amide ligands, resulting in discrete and slightly distorted octa-hedral complexes. These complexes are linked into a three-dimensional network via inter-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding between the amino H atoms and the thio-cyanate S atoms. From this arrangement, channels are formed in which the water mol-ecules are embedded and linked to the host structure by inter-molecular O-H⋯S and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. In the structure of compound 2, the zinc(II) cations are tetra-hedrally coordinated by two N-bonding thio-cyanate anions and the N atoms of two 4-pyridine-thio-amide ligands into discrete complexes. These complexes are likewise connected into a three-dimensional network by inter-molecular N-H⋯S hydrogen bonding between the amino H atoms and the thio-amide S atoms.

The deprotonated ligand intra-molecularly hydrogen bonds to the thia-zole ring N atom, while the deprotonated ligand forms an inter-molecular hydrogen bond to the thiol-ate S atom. The deprotonation of the tridentate ligand and its coordination to Hg via the S atom strikingly affects the C-S bond lengths. In the free ligand, the C-S bond distance is 1.685 (7) Å, whereas it is 1.749 (7) Å in the deprotonated ligand. Similarly, the Hg-S bond distance is slightly longer to the neutral ligand [2.6682 (18) Å] than to the deprotonated ligand [2.5202 (19) Å]. The Hg-I distance is 2.7505 (8) Å.

Project description:In the title centrosymmetric zinc(II) complex, [Zn(2)(C(4)H(13)NO(2))(2)(C(6)H(5)N)(2)], each Zn(II) atom is coordinated by two 2-[(2-oxidobenzyl-idene)amino-meth-yl]phenolate (L) ligands and one pyridine (py) mol-ecule in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. Each L ligand behaves as a tridentate ligand and provides a phenolate oxygen bridge which links the two Zn(II) atoms. The ZnL(py) units are linked by π-π inter-actions between adjacent pyridine mol-ecules, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.724 Å, resulting in a two-dimensional structure.
