Complete genome sequence of a novel duck hepatitis A virus discovered in southern China.

ABSTRACT: We report here the complete genomic sequence of a novel duck hepatitis A virus (DHAV) isolated from mixed infections with DHAV type 1 (DHAV-1) and DHAV-3 in ducklings in Southern China. The whole nucleotide sequence had the highest homology with the sequence of DHAV-3 (GenBank accession number DQ812093) (96.2%). To our knowledge, this is the first report of gene rearrangement between DHAV-1 and DHAV-3, and it will help to understand the epidemiology and molecular characteristics of duck hepatitis A virus in Southern China.

The sequence information provided herein suggests that continuing study is required to determine if this virus can be established in the swine population and pose potential threats to public health.

Complete genome sequence of a duck astrovirus discovered in eastern China.

Project description:We report here the complete genome sequence of a duck astrovirus (DAstV) isolated from a dead duckling in eastern China. Sequence analyses indicated that the genome of the astrovirus possessed a typical astrovirus organization. Comparison of the partial polymerase gene sequences of DAstV-1 and DAstV-2 showed that the astrovirus shared 94.4% and 64.2% nucleotide identity, respectively. The whole nucleotide sequence of the astrovirus had the highest homology with the sequence of DAstV-1 strain C-NGB (98.7%). Therefore, the strain we describe here is a DAstV-1 isolate.

Complete genome sequence of duck Tembusu virus, isolated from Muscovy ducks in southern China.

Project description:We report here the complete genomic sequence of the duck Tembusu virus (DTMUV) WJ-1 strain, isolated from Muscovy ducks. This is the first complete genome sequence of DTMUV reported in southern China. Compared with the other strains (TA, GH-2, YY5, and ZJ-407) that were previously found in eastern China, WJ-1 bears a few differences in the nucleotide and amino acid sequences. We found that there are 47 mutations of amino acids encoded by the whole open reading frame (ORF) among these five strains. The whole-genome sequence of DTMUV will help in understanding the epidemiology and molecular characteristics of duck Tembusu virus in southern China.

Project description:We report here the complete genomic sequence of an avian-like H4N8 swine influenza virus containing an H5N1 avian influenza virus segment from swine in southern China. Phylogenetic analyses of the sequences of all eight viral RNA segments demonstrated that these are wholly avian influenza viruses of the Asia lineage. To our knowledge, this is the first report of interspecies transmission of an avian H4N8 influenza virus to domestic pigs under natural conditions.

Complete genome sequence of the novel duck hepatitis B virus strain SCP01 from Sichuan Cherry Valley duck.

Project description:BackgroundThe duck hepatitis B virus (DHBV) strain, designated SCP01, was isolated and identified from a Sichuan Cherry Valley duck in Southwestern China. To determine the origination and evolution of this isolated strain, we carried out complete genome sequencing of this strain.FindingsSequencing of the nucleotide sequence of DHBV strain SCP01 revealed a genome size of 3021 bp that contained three open reading frames, designated as C, S, and P, which were consistent with those of other duck hepatitis B viruses nucleotide sequences available in the GenBank of NCBI. Sequence comparisons based on the full-length genomic sequences showed that the DHBV SCP01 strain had the highest similarity (99.64 %) with the sequence of strain DHBV-XY, but had a lower similarity (90.04 %) with the sequence of strain DHBV CH5 isolated from Southwestern China. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the DHBV-XY and DHBV SCP01 formed a branch that was clearly distinct from the other strains.ConclusionThis study show that the DHBV SCP01 strain from Sichuan belonged to "Western" isolates, while the DHBV CH5 from Sichuan belonged to "Chinese" isolates. These data will promote further research into the evolutionary biology, epidemiology and pathobiology of hepadnavirus infections. In addition, continuing duck hepatitis B virus surveillance in poultry is critical to understand the patterns of DHBV infection, and to find further animal infection models to study HBV infection.

Complete genome sequence of a duck hepatitis a virus type 3 identified in eastern China.

Project description:We report here the complete genome sequence of a novel duck hepatitis A virus type 3 (DHAV-3) isolated from a dead Cherry Valley duckling in eastern China. The whole genomic nucleotide sequence and polyprotein amino acid sequence of the virus had higher homology with those of Chinese DHAV-3 isolates, medium homology with those of Korean DHAV-3 isolates, and the lowest homology with those of Vietnamese isolate DN2. The result indicated that the genetic evolution of DHAV-3 isolates had obvious geographical features.

Project description:We report here the complete genome sequence of a duck hepatitis A virus 1 (DHAV-1), strain FJ1220, isolated from a dead pigeon in eastern China. DHAV-1 FJ1220 has high homology of up to 99.6% to the DHAV-1 strain Du/CH/LGD/111238 but relatively low homology to strains FFZ05 and FZ05. An amino acid hypervariable region in the VP1 protein of FJ1220 has the motif (180)TPSGR(184) replaced by (180)ALSRG(184) compared to strains FFZ05 and FZ05.

Complete genome sequence of a novel flavivirus, duck tembusu virus, isolated from ducks and geese in china.

Project description:Duck tembusu virus (DTMUV) is an emerging agent that causes a severe disease in ducks. We report herein the first complete genome sequences of duck tembusu virus strains YY5, ZJ-407, and GH-2, isolated from Shaoxing ducks, breeder ducks, and geese, respectively, in China. The genomes of YY5, ZJ-407, and GH-2 are all 10,990 nucleotides (nt) in length and encode a putative polyprotein of 3,426 amino acids. It is flanked by a 5' and a 3' noncoding region (NCR) of 94 and 618 nt, respectively. Knowledge of the whole sequence of DTMUV will be useful for further studies of the mechanisms of virus replication and pathogenesis.
