ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Co(C(10)H(7)O(4))(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(H(2)O)(2)](n), the Co(II) ion is located on a crystallographic centre of symmetry and is six-coordinated by two N atoms from two 1,2-bis-(4-pyrid-yl)ethane ligands, two carboxylate O atoms from two 1,3-dihydro-3-oxo-1-isobenzofuran-acetate ligands and two terminal water ligands. The 1,2-bis(4-pyrid-yl)ethane ligands act as bidentate ligands, and bridge the Co(II) ions into infinite chains extending parallel to [010]. In these chains, there are intra-mol-ecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding between the coordination water mol-ecules and carboxyl-ate groups. Inter-mol-ecular O-H?O hydrogen bonding between the adjacent chains and ??? stacking inter-actions result in the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title compound, {[Cd(CH(3)COO)(2)(C(20)H(16)N(6)S(2))]·3H(2)O}(n), exists as a one-dimensional zigzag polymer in which the Cd(II) ion shows a seven-coordinate [CdO(5)N(2)] distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry with the N atoms in axial positions and an N-Cd-N angle of 176.94?(13)°. The metal atoms are bridged by 1,2-bis-[4-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidin-2-ylsulfan-yl]ethane ligands, giving a polymeric chain extending along the b axis. Adjacent chains related by an inversion center are further bridged by Cd-O bonds formed between the O atom of one of the acetate ligands and the metal atom. The five Cd-O bond lengths are in the range 2.329?(3)-2.485?(3)?Å. There are ?-? stacking inter-actions between the aromatic rings of adjacent polymeric chains, the centroid-centroid distances being 3.556?(3) and 3.698?(3)?Å, organizing the chains into a three-dimensional framework. This framework is additionally stabilized by extensive O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonding between water mol-ecules and the ligands.

The Co(II) atom is situated on a crystallographic center of inversion and is octa-hedrally coordinated by two O atoms from two anions, two N atoms of two 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethane mol-ecules and two O atoms from two water mol-ecules. A three-dimensional network is established by inter-molecular O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The reaction of manganese seleno-cyanate with 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethane (bpa) leads to the title compound, {[Mn(NCSe)2(C12H12N2)(CH3OH)2]·C12H12N2} n . The Mn(II) cation is coordinated by two N-bonded seleno-cyanate anions, two bpa ligands and two O-bonded methanol mol-ecules, within a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The Mn(II) cations and the non-coordinating N-donor ligands are located on centers of inversion while the coordinating N-donor co-ligands are located on a twofold rotation axis. In the crystal, the Mn(II) cations are linked into chains along the c-axis direction by the bpa ligands. Project description:The title compound, {[Fe(NCSe)2(C12H12N2)(H2O)2]·2C12H12N2·2H2O} n , was obtained by the reaction of iron(II) sulfate hepta-hydrate and potassium seleno-cyanate with 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethane (bpa) in water. The Fe(II) cation is coordinated by two N-bonded seleno-cyanate anions, two water mol-ecules and two 1,2-bis-(pyridin-4-yl)ethane (bpa) ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. In addition, two non-coordinating bpa mol-ecules and two water mol-ecules are present. The Fe(II) cation is located on a center of inversion while the coordinating bpa ligand is located on a twofold rotation axis. The Fe(II) cations are linked by the bpa ligands into chains along the b-axis direction, which are further connected into layers perpedicular to the c axis by O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to the non-coordin-ating bpa and the water mol-ecules. The crystal studied was twinned by pseudo-merohedry (180° rotation along c*; contribution of the minor twin component 3.7%).

Project description:The title compound, {[Cu(C10H7O4)2(C14H14N4O2)(H2O)2]n, contains octa-hed-rally coordinated CuII ions ligated by two bis-(1,3-di-hydro-3-oxo-1-isobenzo-furan-acetate (dibf) ligands and two trans water mol-ecules, linked by N,N'-(ethane-1,2-di-yl)dinicotinamide (edn) ligands into mono-periodic coordination polymer chains. The dibf ligands exhibit a pseudo-mirror positional disorder over two positions in a 89.2 (3)/10.8 (3) ratio; the central amide groups of the edn ligands are disordered pseudo-rotationally in the same ratio. These mono-periodic chain motifs are held into supra-molecular di-periodic supra-molecular layers by means of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between edn amide groups and unligated dibf carboxyl-ate O atoms. In turn, the supra-molecular layers are held by crystal packing forces into the full crystal structure of the title compound.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(CH(3)CO(2))(2)(C(9)H(7)N(3))(H(2)O)](n), the Cu(II) ion is penta-coordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry. The N atoms of the two chelating symmetry-related 5-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine ligands and the O atoms of the two monodentate acetate anions are nearly coplanar, with a mean deviation from the least-squares plane of 0.157?(2)?Å and the Cu(II) ion is displaced by 0.050?(3)?Å from this plane towards the apical water O atom. Bridging through the bis-monodentate 5-(pyridin-3-yl)pyrimidine ligand forms a one-dimensional coordination polymer extending parallel to [010]. In the crystal, O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional supra-molecular structure parallel to (100). The crystal studied was an inversion twin with a 0.57?(3):0.43?(3) domain ratio.
