ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(20)H(20)NPSe, the P atom lies in a distorted tetra-hedral environment. The Tolman cone angle is 157° indicating steric crowding at this atom. In the crystal, weak C-H?Se inter-actions create linked dimeric units and C-H?? inter-actions are also observed.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C(22)H(23)O(4)PSe, the P atom has a distorted tetra-hedral environment formed by the selenide atom [P=Se = 2.1219?(5)?Å] and three aryl rings. The orientations of the meth-oxy groups in the two 2,4-dimeth-oxy-phenyl ligands are distinct, as seen from the torsion angles: C-C-O-C = 14.7?(3) and 175.97?(17)° in one ligand, and -9.1?(2) and 5.1?(3)° in the other. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H?Se inter-actions link the mol-ecules into zigzag chains propagated in [010].

Two short intra-molecular C-H?Se contacts occur. In the crystal, weak inter-molecular C-H?Se inter-actions link the mol-ecules into zigzag double chains propagating in [100]. The previous report of this structure [Zhdanov et al. (1953 ?). Dokl. Akad. Nauk SSSR (Russ.) (Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci. USSR), 92, 983-985] contained no geometrical data.

A redetermination of (2-methoxy-phen-yl)diphenyl-phosphine.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title triphenyl-phosphine compound, C(19)H(17)OP, consists of two crystallographically independent mol-ecules with similar conformations. One of these two mol-ecules has a whole-mol-ecule disorder over two positions with refined occupancies of 0.753 (3) and 0.247 (3). The dihedral angles between the three benzene rings are 89.69 (7), 76.54 (7) and 86.02 (7)° in the non-disordered mol-ecule and the corresponding angles are 88.3 (4), 83.2 (4) and 84.2 (3)° for the major component and 80.2 (11), 89.5 (11) and 74.4 (9)° for the minor component of the disordered mol-ecule. This structure has been reported previously [Suomalainen et al. (2000 ▶). Eur. J. Inorg. Chem. pp. 2607-2613]; however, the disorder detailed here was not mentioned in that determination. In the crystal structure, the mol-ecules are stacked down the b axis and stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The absolute configuration of the title mol-ecule, [Fe(C(5)H(5))(C(38)H(34)NP(2))]·CHCl(3), is R,R(p). The mol-ecular structure is similar to the structure of the solvent-free compound [Fukuzawa, Yamamoto & Kikuchi (2007 ▶). J. Org. Chem. 72, 1514-1517], but some torsion angles about the P-C(phen-yl) bonds differ by up to 25°. The P atoms and the N atom have a distorted trigonal-pyramidal geometry. The chloro-form solvate group donates a C-H⋯π bond to the central benzene ring and is also involved in six inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl contacts with H⋯Cl distances between 2.96 and 3.13 Å.

Project description:The title compound, C(18)H(16)NOP·C(3)H(8)O, was synthesized by the reduction of (3-nitro-phen-yl)diphenyl-phosphine oxide in the presence of 2-propanol as recrystallization solvent. There are two molecules in the asymmetric unit. Each P atom is tetra-coordinated by three C and one O atom from two phenyl fragments, one aniline group and one double-bonded O atom in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. C-H?? and N-H?? inter-actions are present. In the crystal structure, a wide range of non-covalent inter-actions consisting of hydrogen bonding [of the types of O-H?O, N-H?O and C-H?O, with D?A distances ranging from 2.680?(3) to 3.478?(3)?Å] and ?-? [centroid-centroid distance of 3.7720?(15)?Å] stacking inter-actions connect the various components into a supra-molecular structure.
