Eleven new species of theridiosomatid spiders from southern China (Araneae, Theridiosomatidae).

ABSTRACT: Two new genera of the spider family Theridiosomatidae, Alariagen.n. with the type species Alaria chengguanensissp. n., Mengluniagen.n. with the type species Menglunia inaffectasp. n., are described from Guizhou and Yunnan, China. Nine more new species from Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan and Yunnan Provinces of southern China are described: Baalzebub rastrariussp. n.,Baalzebub youyiensissp. n., Karstia nitidasp. n., Karstia prolatasp. n.,Ogulnius hapalussp. n., Theridiosoma plumariasp. n., Theridiosoma triumphalissp. n., Theridiosoma vimineumsp. n., Zoma fasciasp. n. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing.

Project description:Ten new species of jumping spiders are described from China, including Attulusjimanisp. nov. (♂♀) from Yunnan, Colaxescibagousp. nov. (♂♀), Epeuspengisp. nov. (♂♀), Evarchazayusp. nov. (♂♀), Iciuszangsp. nov. (♂♀), Pancoriusnyingchisp. nov. (♂♀), Stertiniusliqingaesp. nov. (♂♀), and Synagelidesmedogsp. nov. (♀) from Xizang, S.tianquansp. nov. (♂♀), and Yaginumaellaerlangsp. nov. (♂♀) from Sichuan. The hitherto unknown female of Phintellalongapophysis Lei & Peng, 2013 is described for the first time. Diagnostic photos and the distributional maps for all species are provided. Four new combinations are proposed: Epeusdilucidus (Próchniewicz, 1990), comb. nov., and E.guangxi (Peng & Li, 2002), comb. nov. transferred from Plexippoides Prószyński, 1984, Phintellasufflava (Jastrzębski, 2009), comb. nov. transferred from Carrhotus Thorell, 1891, and Yaginumaellaarmata (Jastrzębski, 2011), comb. nov. transferred from Pancorius Simon, 1902.

Project description:Seven new species of jumping spiders collected from Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden in Yunnan, China, are diagnosed and described: Charippus yinae sp. nov. (♂♀), Chinattus inflatus sp. nov. (♂), Indomarengo yui sp. nov. (♂), Phintella banna sp. nov. (♂♀), P. mii sp. nov. (♂♀), Simaetha menglun sp. nov. (♂♀) and S. pengi sp. nov. (♂♀). Charippus yinae sp. nov. is the second species of the genus Charippus Thorell, 1895, which was previously known only from one sex.

Two new species and a new genus of ray spiders (Araneae, Theridiosomatidae) from the Ryukyu Islands, southwest Japan, with notes on their natural history.

Project description:This paper provides descriptions of two new theridiosomatid species, Theridiosomanigrivirgatum sp. nov. and Sennintanikawai gen. nov., sp. nov. from the Ryukyu Islands, southwest Japan, with photographs and illustrations of both sexes. Sennin gen. nov. is a troglophilic genus composed of two species, S.tanikawai sp. nov. (Iriomote Island, Japan) and S.coddingtoni (Zhu, Zhang & Chen, 2001), comb. nov. (southern China). Zomadibaiyin Miller, Griswold & Yin, 2009, which recently joined the Japanese fauna, was morphologically reexamined based on specimens from the Ryukyus, and taxonomic features of Zoma males were reassessed. A distributional map of theridiosomatid spiders in the Ryukyus is also provided, including T.dissimulatum Suzuki, Serita & Hiramatsu, 2020, and T.alboannulatum Suzuki, Serita & Hiramatsu, 2020 with their habitat types, web morphology, and web-building behavior in detail.

Three new species of the genus <i>Coddingtonia</i> from Asia (Araneae, Theridiosomatidae).

Project description:The current paper expands knowledge of the genus Coddingtonia Miller, Griswold & Yin, 2009. Based on morphological characters and molecular data, three species are documented as new to science: C. erhuan Feng & Lin, sp. nov. (♀) from China, C. lizu Feng & Lin, sp. nov. (♀) from China, and C. huifengi Feng & Lin, sp. nov. (♂♀) from Indonesia. The type of C. euryopoides Miller, Griswold & Yin, 2009 is also reexamined. DNA sequences (COI), detailed illustrations of habitus, male palp and epigyne are provided for these four species, as well as a key and a distribution map for Coddingtonia species.

The new genera are Dendroicius gen. nov. (type species D. hotaruae sp. nov. (♂♀)) and Megaeupoa gen. nov. (type species M. yanfengi sp. nov. (♂♀)). The new species are Colyttus yiwui sp. nov. (♂♀), Euophrys xuyei sp. nov. (♂♀), Foliabitus weihangi sp. nov. (♂♀), Nigorella mengla sp. nov. (♂♀), Onomastus chenae sp. nov. (♂♀), and Synagelides platnicki sp. nov. (♂♀). A new combination is proposed: Megaeupoa gravelyi (Caleb, 2018), comb. nov., ex Brettus Thorell, 1895. Two new synonyms have been proposed: Irura prima (Żabka, 1985), syn. nov. with Irura mandarina Simon, 1903; Evarcha digitata Peng & Li, 2002, syn. nov. with Ptocasius montiformis Song, 1991.

Project description:The genus Chthonopes Wunderlich, 2011 is reviewed in this paper. The type species Chthonopesjaegeri Wunderlich, 2011 was illustrated based on new material from the type locality and the new distribution records (Bolikhamsay and Ban Kouanphavang Khammouane, Laos). Two new species are described from Yunnan, China: C.bifidum Yu & Lin, sp. nov. (♂♀) and C.jimudeng Yu & Lin, sp. nov. (♀). A key is provided for the genus, as well as species diagnoses, and a distribution map for all five species of Chthonopes.
