Three new species of the genus Coddingtonia from Asia (Araneae, Theridiosomatidae).

ABSTRACT: The current paper expands knowledge of the genus Coddingtonia Miller, Griswold & Yin, 2009. Based on morphological characters and molecular data, three species are documented as new to science: C. erhuan Feng & Lin, sp. nov. (♀) from China, C. lizu Feng & Lin, sp. nov. (♀) from China, and C. huifengi Feng & Lin, sp. nov. (♂♀) from Indonesia. The type of C. euryopoides Miller, Griswold & Yin, 2009 is also reexamined. DNA sequences (COI), detailed illustrations of habitus, male palp and epigyne are provided for these four species, as well as a key and a distribution map for Coddingtonia species.

Project description:Three new species of the genus Plato from caves in the states of Pará and Minas Gerais, Brazil, are described. P. novalimasp. n., from Minas Gerais, is the first record of the genus in the southeastern region of Brazil. P. ferriferussp. n. and P. striatussp. n., from Carajás, Pará, north of Brazil, are also described. The former is an extremely abundant species, whereas the latter has only one known male specimen. Cuacubagen. n. is proposed and represented by two new species, C. marianasp. n. (type species) and C. morrodopilarsp. n., both from the state of Minas Gerais. Morphology of genitalia in Cuacubagen. n. is similar to other Theridiosomatidae genera and is herein discussed. None of the proposed species presents troglomorphic adaptations. They are widespread, abundant inside caves in different and large karst areas, and each genus prefers different lithologies.

Project description:Two new genera of the spider family Theridiosomatidae, Alariagen.n. with the type species Alaria chengguanensissp. n., Mengluniagen.n. with the type species Menglunia inaffectasp. n., are described from Guizhou and Yunnan, China. Nine more new species from Guangxi, Guizhou, Hainan and Yunnan Provinces of southern China are described: Baalzebub rastrariussp. n.,Baalzebub youyiensissp. n., Karstia nitidasp. n., Karstia prolatasp. n.,Ogulnius hapalussp. n., Theridiosoma plumariasp. n., Theridiosoma triumphalissp. n., Theridiosoma vimineumsp. n., Zoma fasciasp. n. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing.

A review of the spider genus Sinoalaria (Araneae, Theridiosomatidae), with the descriptions of four new species and two new combinations

Project description:Abstract The spider genus Sinoalaria Zhao & Li, 2014 is redefined and reviewed. A total of ten species are studied, including four new species: S.chi Yu & Lin, sp. nov. (♂♀), S.shenhei Yu & Lin, sp. nov. (♀), S.shuidi Yu & Lin, sp. nov. (♀), S.xiaotu Yu & Lin, sp. nov. (♂♀). Two new combinations are proposed: Sinoalarianitida (Zhao & Li, 2012), comb. nov. and S.prolata (Zhao & Li, 2012), comb. nov., both transferred from Karstia Chen, 2010. The material of six known species were re-examined and photographed, including the type species, S.chengguanensis (Zhao & Li, 2012). A key is provided for all species of the genus, as well as diagnoses, illustrations, and a distribution map.

Project description:Spiders of the genus Althepus Thorell, 1898 are found throughout Southeast Asia, notable for their long walking legs. Ten new species are reported in this paper from China, Indonesia, Laos and Myanmar: A.chengmenensis Li & Li, sp. n. (??), A.cheni Li & Li, sp. n. (??), A.gouci Li & Li, sp. n. (??), A.hongguangi Li & Li, sp. n. (??), A.phousalao Li & Li, sp. n. (??), A.qianhuang Li & Li, sp. n. (??), A.qingyuani Li & Li, sp. n. (?), A.sepakuensis Li & Li, sp. n. (??), A.xuae Li & Li, sp. n. (??) and A.yizhuang Li & Li, sp. n. (??). These species were found in cave entrances and among tree-buttresses, indicating the spiders have a preference for dark and moist environments. All types are deposited in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China (IZCAS).

In addition, two species of Psiloderces Simon, 1892 are transferred to Thaiderces: Thaiderces rimbu (Deeleman-Reinhold, 1995) comb. nov. (♂♀) and Thaiderces djojosudharmoi (Deeleman-Reinhold, 1995) comb. nov. (♂♀).
