3-Methyl-benzene-1,2-diamine.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C7H10N2, was synthesized from 2-methyl-6-nitro-aniline by a reduction reaction. In the crystal, molecules are linked via N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional networks lying parallel to (100). These networks are stabilized by C-H⋯π and N-H⋯π inter-actions.

C-C-C angles span the range 116.25?(11)-122.35?(11)°. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?O and N-H?N hydrogen bonds connect mol-ecules into undulating sheets perpendicular to the crystallographic a axis. A weak intra-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bond is also observed. No ?-stacking is observed in the crystal structure.
