Unlike the latter compound, however, mol-ecules of the title compound associate primarily via ?-? stacking inter-actions of their benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5865?(8)?Å], forming columnar stacks along the crystallographic 2(1) axes. These stacks are inter-connected via weak C-H?O and C-H?N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, C(15)H(13)N(5), the N-containing heterocycles are linked by an ethyl-ene spacer in a gauche conformation, the N-C-C-C torsion angle along the linker being 60.1 (3)°. The dihedral angle between the terminal benzotriazole and benzimidazole rings is 39.02 (6)°. In the crystal, adjacent mol-ecules are connected by N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming an infinite chain along the c axis. π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.8772 (7) Å] between the benzotriazole rings of neighbouring chains extend these chains into a supra-molecular sheet in the bc plane. Weak inter-molecular C-H⋯N inter-actions further stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(21)H(18)ClN(3)O, contains two crystallographically independent mol-ecules which differ slightly in the orientations of chloro-benz-yloxy units. In one of the mol-ecules, the phenyl and chloro-phenyl rings are oriented at dihedral angles of 38.09?(6) and 42.15?(6)°, respectively, with respect to the benzotriazole ring [43.23?(6) and 29.80?(6)° in the other mol-ecule]. The dihedral angle between the phenyl and chloro-phenyl rings is 77.63?(6)° in one of the mol-ecules and 72.97?(6)° in the other. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H?? inter-actions.

Photocatalytic Transformations of 1H-Benzotriazole and Benzotriazole Derivates.

Project description:Benzotriazoles are a new class of organic emerging pollutants ubiquitously found in the environment. The increase of their concentration to detectable values is the consequence of the inability of the Conventional Waste Water Plants (CWWPs) to abate these products. We subjected 1H-benzotriazole (BTz), tolyltriazole (TTz), and Tinuvin P (TP, a common UV plastic stabilizer) to photocatalytic degradation under UV-irradiated TiO2 in different conditions. The principal photoformed intermediates, the relationship between the degradation rate and the pH, the degree of mineralization, and the fate of the organic nitrogen were investigated. Under the adopted experimental conditions, all the studied substrates were rapidly photocatalytically transformed (the maximum degradation rates for BTz and TTz were (3.88 ± 0.05) × 10-2 and (2.11 ± 0.09) × 10-2 mM min-1, respectively) and mineralized (the mineralization rate for BTz and TTz was 4.0 × 10-3 mM C min-1 for both substrates). Different from the 1,2,4-triazole rings that are not completely mineralized under photocatalytic conditions, 1H-benzotriazole and tolyltriazole were completely mineralized with a mechanism that involved a partial conversion of organic nitrogen to N2. The photocatalytic process activated by UV-irradiated TiO2 is an efficient tool to abate 1H-benzotriazole and its derivatives, avoiding their release in the environment.

The benzotriazole ring system in the 1-hy-droxy-benzotriazole (B) mol-ecule is also close to being planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.010?Å). In the crystal, weak C-H?O and C-H?? inter-actions are present. The A and B molecules are linked by an O-H?N hydrogen bond.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title coordination compound, [Ag(NO(3))(C(14)H(11)N(3)O(2))(2)], the Ag(I) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry by two O atoms from one nitrate group and two N atoms from two different 1-[(benzo-yloxy)meth-yl]-1H-1,2,3-triazole ligands. In the complex, the two coordinated benzotriazole rings rings are nearly perpendicular, the dihedral angle between their planes being 87.08?(6)°.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title hydrate, C(9)H(8)ClN(3)O·0.5H(2)O, comprises two independent 1,2,3-triazole mol-ecules and a water mol-ecule of crystallization. The dihedral angles between the six- and five-membered rings in the 1,2,3-triazole mol-ecules are 12.71?(19) and 17.3?(2)°. The most significant different between them is found in the relative orientations of the terminal CH(2)OH groups with one being close to perpendicular to the five-membered ring [N-C-C-O torsion angle = 82.2?(5)°], while in the other mol-ecule, a notable deviation from a perpendicular disposition is found [torsion angle = -60.3?(5)°]. Supra-molecular chains feature in the crystal packing sustained by O-H?(O,N) inter-actions along the a-axis direction. The chains are connected via C-H?N inter-actions and the resultant layers stack along the b axis.
