ABSTRACT: In the title compound, {[Zn(C8H4O4)(C6H6N2O)2]·C6H6N2O} n , the Zn(II) ion exhibits a tetra-hedral coordination environment defined by two benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate dianions and two 4-pyridinealdoxime ligands. The dianions bridge the Zn(II) ions, giving a zigzag chain along the b axis. Adjacent chains are connected by O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a cavity in which an uncoordinating 4-pyridine-aldoxime mol-ecule is located; this mol-ecule is linked by O-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds to the zigzag chain.

The Cu(II) and water O atoms lie on a twofold rotation axis, and the benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligand lies on an inversion center. The water O atom occupies the apical position and the basal plane is occupied by two O atoms and two N atoms. Each benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anion acts as a bis-monodentate ligand that binds two Cu(II) cations, forming an infinite chain extending parallel to [001]. The N(6)-benzyl-adenine ligands are attached on both sides of the chain. Neighboring chains are further inter-connected into the resulting three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture via O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, {[Co(3)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)]·CH(3)OH·H(2)O}(n), consists of four crystallographically independent Co cations, four benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate (bdc) anions, two water and one methanol solvent mol-ecule. Two of the Co cations and two of the bdc anions are located on centres of inversion, whereas all other atoms are located in general positions. In the crystal, two Co atoms are only fourfold coordinated by three O atoms from three bdc ligands and by one O atom from one coordinated water mol-ecule, while a third Co atom is coordinated by four O atoms from four bdc ligands within a strongly distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The other two Co cations are octa-hedrally coordinated by six O atoms from six bdc anions. The Co cations are linked by the bdc anions into a three-dimensional framework. From this arrangement, cavities are formed in which additional methanol and water mol-ecules are embedded.

Project description:A new cadmium(II) coordination polymer, {[Cd(C(8)H(4)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·0.5C(8)H(6)O(4)}(n), has been synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit contains one Cd(II) atom, one benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anion, one 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, one coordinated water mol-ecule and half of an uncoordinated benzene-1,4-dicaboxylic acid solvent mol-ecule. The Cd(II) atom is in the centre of a monocapped distorted octa-hedron made up of four O atoms of two chelating benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions, one water O atom and two 1,10-phenanthroline N atoms. The metal centres are connected via bis-chelating benzene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate anions into a zigzag chain structure along [001]. These chains are further connected by O-H?O hydrogen bonds between the water mol-ecules and adjacent carboxyl-ate O atoms. Additional O-H?O hydrogen bonding between the uncoordinated benzene-1,4-dicaboxylic acid mol-ecules along [010] consolidates the structure.

Project description:The title polymeric compound, [Cd(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(H(2)O)(3)](n) or [Cd(py-2,3-dc)(H(2)O)(3)](n), where py-2,3-dcH(2) is pyridine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid, was obtained by the reaction of cadmium(II) nitrate hexa-hydrate with (pipzH(2))(py-2,3-dc) as a proton-transfer compound in aqueous solution (pipz is piperazine). The mol-ecular structure shows that only the anionic fragment of the starting proton-transfer compound is present in the complex, while the (pipzH(2))(2+) dication has been lost. Each (py-2,3-dc)(2-) ligand bridges two Cd(II) atoms in two different coordination modes, i.e. one end acts as a monodentate and the other end as a bidentate ligand. The three remaining coordination sites on the metal center are occupied by water mol-ecules. The geometric arrangement of the six donor atoms around the Cd(II) atom is distorted octa-hedral. In the crystal structure, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds play an important role in stabilizing the supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title polymeric compound, [Zn(3)(C(10)H(8)O(4))(3)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)](n) or [Zn(3)(dmbdc)(3)(py)(2)](n) (dmbdc = 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ate; py = pyridine) contains two Zn(II) ions, one of which is located on an inversion centre, one and a half 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and one pyridine ligand. Each ZnO(6) octa-hedron is sandwiched between two ZnO(4)N square-pyramids, forming a trinuclear zinc secondary building unit (SBU); each SBU is further linked by six 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ate ligands with six adjacent trinuclear zinc SBU's, forming a two-dimensional layer structure with a (3,6) net. One of the three zinc ions is octa-hedrally coordinated and the other two are square-pyramidally coordinated. The coordination modes for 2,5-dimethyl-benzene-dicarboxyl-ates are bis-(bidentate) or bidentate-tridentate.

Project description:In the title complex, {[Zn(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·H(2)O}(n), the Zn(II) ion is in a distorted octa-hedral environment, defined by two N atoms from a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand and one N atom and three O atoms from two pyridine-2,3-dicarboxyl-ate (2,3-pydc) ligands. The bridging 2,3-pydc ligands connect the Zn(II) ions into a chain extending along [010]. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the uncoordinated water mol-ecules and the uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms, as well as π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings of the phen ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.557 (2) Å], are observed.

Each terephthalate ligand acts as a bis-monodentate ligand that binds two Cu(II) atoms, thus forming two unique chains extending parallel to [110]. The imidazole ligands are attached on both sides of the chains.
