A new polymorph of 1,3-bis-(penta-fluoro-phen-yl)urea.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C13H2F10N2O, has been previously described in the space group Pbca with Z = 8 [Jai-nhuknan et al. (1997 ?). Acta Cryst. C53, 455-457]. The current P212121 polymorph was obtained from a tetra-hydro-furan solution. The penta-fluoro-phenyl rings make dihedral angles of 50.35?(6) and 54.94?(6)° with the urea fragment, in close accord with those reported for the first polymorph. In the crystal, both of the N-H groups donate H atoms to the same carbonyl O atom, forming a one-dimensional mol-ecular array along the a axis. There are close contacts between perfluoro-phenyl C atoms within the array [3.228?(3)?Å] and halogen bonds are also observed between the arrays [F?F = 2.709?(2) and 2.7323?(18)?Å].

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(16)N(2)S, crystallizes with two molecules in the asymmetric unit. The crystallographic behaviour of the two isomers is different. The mol-ecules are dimerized, forming an R(2) (2)(8) ring motif due to inter-molecular N-H?S hydrogen bonds. C-H?S hydrogen bonds form R(2) (2)(12) ring motifs. In one molecule, the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 62.54?(6)°, whereas in the other it is 79.54?(6)°. The H atoms of one of the methyl groups in each molecule are disordered over two sites, with occupancy ratios of 0.52?(3):0.48?(3) and 0.60?(3):0.40?(3).

1,3-Bis(2-chloro-phen-yl)thio-urea: a monoclinic polymorph.

Project description:The title compound, C(13)H(10)Cl(2)N(2)S, represents a monoclinic polymorph of the previously reported ortho-rhom-bic form [Ramnathan et al. (1996 ▶). Acta Cryst. C52, 134-136]. The mol-ecule is twisted with the dihedral angle between the benzene rings being 55.37 (7)°. The N-H atoms are syn to each other, which contrasts their anti disposition in the ortho-rhom-bic form. In the crystal, mol-ecules assemble into zigzag chains along the c axis via N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds. Chains are connected into layers via C-H⋯Cl inter-actions, and these stack along the a axis.

Low-temperature redetermination of 1,3-bis-(penta-fluoro-phen-yl)triazene.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, (C(6)F(5))(2)N(3)H, is stabilized by N-H?N hydrogen bonding, forming centrosymmetric dimers organized in a herringbone motif. Important geometrical parameters are N-N = 1.272?(2) and 1.330?(2)?Å and N-N-N = 112.56?(15)°. The dihedral angle between C(6)F(5) groups is 21.22?(9)°. The room temperature structure was reported by Leman et al. (1993). Inorg. Chem.32, 4324-4336]. In the current determination, the data were collected to a higher ? angle, resulting in higher precision for the C-C bond lengths(0.001-0.005 versus 0.003?Å).

Project description:In the title compound, C(15)H(2)F(10)O, the two perfluorinated arene rings are tilted at an angle of 66.08?(5)° with respect to each other. The olefinic double bond adopts an E configuration and the single bond between the olefinic and carbonyl double bonds has an s-trans conformation. The carbonyl group is not in a coplanar alignment with respect to the neighbouring arene ring (0.963?Å from aryl plane) while being coplanar with regard to the olefinic double bond (0.0805?Å from olefinic bond). The crystal packing does not feature significant hydrogen-bond-type or stacking inter-actions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(13)H(10)F(2)N(2)O, contains one and a half N,N'-bis-(4-fluoro-phen-yl)urea mol-ecules. One of the mol-ecules has crystallographic twofold rotation symmetry. The benzene rings are twisted from each other by dihedral angles of 29.69?(6)° for the mol-ecule in a general position and 89.83?(6)° for the symmetry-generated mol-ecule. In the crystal structure, a pair of inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonds link symmetry-related mol-ecules into chains along the b axis, forming R(2) (1)(6) ring motifs.

Project description:In the title compound, C(15)H(16)N(2)O(2)S, the N-C(=S) bond lengths are indicative of the presence of amide-type resonance. The dihedral angles between the thio-urea unit and the attached aromatic rings are 59.80 (5) and 73.41 (4)° while the dihedral angle between the rings is 56.83 (4)°. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds occur. An N-H⋯π inter-action is observed for the second amino group. The shortest centroid-centroid distance between two aromatic systems is 4.0958 (8) Å.
