ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (AGPase), a key enzyme involved in higher plant starch biosynthesis, is composed of pairs of large (LS) and small subunits (SS). Ample evidence has shown that the AGPase catalyzes the rate limiting step in starch biosynthesis in higher plants.
