ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Na(C7H7O4S)] n , the Na(I) ion is coord-inated in a slightly distorted penta-gonal-bipyramidal environment by seven O atoms [Na-O = 2.3198?(16)-2.5585?(17)?Å]. The 4-methoxybenzenesulfonate anions act as bis-chelating and bridging ligands, forming a two-dimensional polymer parallel to (001), which is further linked into a three-dimensional network by weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, [Na(3)(C(14)H(14)N(3)O(3)S)(3)(C(4)H(8)O(2))(3)](n), is a polynuclear complex which includes, in the monomeric unit, three units of Na(I)-4'-dimethyl-amino-azobenzene-4-sulfonate [known as methyl orange (MO)] and three molecules of dioxane (C(4)H(8)O(2)). These constitute three kinds of Na(I) centres, two of which are seven-coordinate while the third is five-coordinate. One of the seven-coordinate centres is coordinated by six O atoms from the sulfonate groups of four different MOs and by one O atom from dioxane. The other is coordinated by seven O atoms from the sulfonate groups of five different MOs. The five-coordinate centre is coordinated by three O atoms from the sulfonate groups of three different MOs and two O atoms from two different dioxanes. In the crystal structure, a one-dimensional polymer chain is formed along the a axis and this ensures the thermal stability of the title compound. It is also to be noted that the N=N bond lengths of the three azo groups are appreciably different [1.259?(4), 1.196?(4), and 1.253?(4)?Å].

Project description:In the title compound, [HgCl(2)(C(18)H(16)N(2)O(2))](n), the Hg(II) atom is four-coordinated in a distorted tetra-hedral environment defined by two Cl atoms and two N atoms from two 1,4-bis-(pyridin-2-ylmeth-oxy)benzene ligands. The ligand shows a non-coplanar conformation, in which the dihedral angles between the two terminal pyridine rings and the linking benzene ring are 7.275?(17) and 74.020?(14)°. The flexible ligands link the Hg(II) atoms into a chain running along [010], with an Hg?Hg separation of 10.335?(5)?Å, which is equal to the b axis. Project description:The mol-ecular structure of the title compound, NH(4) (+)·C(7)H(7)O(4)S(-), is featureless [the methoxy C atom deviating 0.173?(6)?Å from the phenyl mean plane] with inter-atomic distances and angles in the expected ranges. The main feature of inter-est is the packing mode. Hydro-philic (SO(3) and NH(4)) and hydro-phobic (PhOCH(3)) parts in the structure segregate, the former inter-acting through a dense hydrogen-bonding scheme, leading to a well connected two-dimensional structure parallel to (100) and the latter hydro-phobic groups acting as spacers for an inter-planar separation of c/2 = 10.205?(2)?Å. In spite of being aligned along [110], the benzene rings stack in a far from parallel fashion [viz. consecutive ring centers determine a broken line with a 164.72?(12)° zigzag angle], thus preventing any possible ?-? inter-action.

Project description:In the title compound, C(13)H(13)NO(3)S, the benzene ring of the benzene-sulfonamide moiety is disordered with an occupancy ratio of 0.56?(3):0.44?(3), the disorder components being twisted at and angle of 21?(1)° to each other. The meth-oxy-benzene group is roughly planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0144?Å) and the amide N atom is displaced from this plane by 0.090?(6)?Å. The dihedral angles between the meth-oxy-benzene group and the major and minor occupancy components of the disordered benzene ring are 54.6?(4) and 62.9?(5)°, respectively. In the crystal, infinite polymeric chains are formed along [100] due to inter-molecular N-H?O hydrogen bonding. Weak C-H?? inter-actions are also present in the crystal.
