ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Na(C(6)H(3)Cl(2)O(3)S)(H(2)O)](n), the Na(I) ion is penta-coordinated by three dichloro-benzene-sulfonate anions and two water mol-ecules, forming a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. The Na(I) ions are bridged by the sulfonate groups and the water mol-ecules, leading to a polymeric layer structure parallel to the bc plane in which O-H?O hydrogen bonds are observed.

Project description:The structure of the title sulfonamide, C(12)H(15)Cl(2)NO(2)S, features a distorted tetra-hedral geometry for the S atom [maximum deviation: O-S-O = 120.23?(14)°]. One of the sulfonamide O atoms is coplanar with the benzene ring [C-C-S-O torsion angle = -174.5?(2)°], whereas the other lies well above the plane [C-C-S-O = 57.0?(3)°]. A chair conformation is found for the cyclo-hexyl ring. In the crystal, supra-molecular chains aligned along the c axis are formed via N-H?O hydrogen bonds; these are consolidated in the three-dimensional packing by C-H?O contacts involving the second sulfonamide O atom.

Project description:In the title compound, C(12)H(9)Cl(2)NO(2)S, the conformation of the N-H bond is syn to the 2-chloro group and anti to the 3-chloro group of the aniline benzene ring. The mol-ecule is bent at the S atom with a C-SO(2)-NH-C torsion angle of 66.4?(2)°. The two rings form a dihedral angle of 73.3?(1)° and an intra-molecular N-H?Cl hydrogen bond occurs.
