(2,2'-Bi-pyridine-?(2) N,N')tetra-kis-(dimethyl sulfoxide-?O)copper(II) bis-(perchlorate).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Cu(C2H6OS)4(C10H8N2)](ClO4)2, contains a Cu(II) ion with a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment, bonded by four O atoms of the monodentate dimethyl sulfoxide ligands and two N atoms of the bidentate chelating 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand. The equatorial Cu-N and Cu-O bond lengths are in the range 1.979?(2)-1.998?(3)?Å. The axial Cu-O bond distances are 2.365?(2) and 2.394?(2)?Å. In the crystal, the complex cations and perchlorate anions are connected by numerous C-H?O hydrogen bonds, which leads to additional stabilization of the structure. The perchlorate anion is disordered over two sets of sites with a 0.716?(3):0.284?(3) occupancy ratio.

The title compound, [Cu(C2H6OS)4(C10H8N2)](ClO4)2, contains a Cu(II) ion with a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment, bonded by four O atoms of the monodentate dimethyl sulfoxide ligands and two N atoms of the bidentate chelating 2,2'-bi-pyridine ligand. An isolated Cl(-) counter-anion and a positionally disordered DMSO mol-ecule [occupancy ratio 0.654 (4):0.346 (4)] are also present. The Cu atom lies on a center of inversion. N-H⋯O and N-H⋯F hydrogen bonds give rise to a one-dimensional structure. The BF(4) (-) anion is disordered over two sites in a 0.671 (10):0.329 (10) ratio.

Project description:In the title compound, [CdBr(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(C(2)H(6)OS)], the Cd(II) atom is five-coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry by two N atoms from one 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (DMBP) ligand, one O atom from a dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) ligand and two Br atoms. A weak intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs between the DMBP and DMSO ligands. π-π stacking between pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.682 (3) and 3.598 (3) Å] is observed in the crystal.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Co2(NCS)4(C10H8N2)3(C2H6OS)2] n , consists of one Co(II) atom, two thio-cyanate anions, one dimethyl sulfoxide mol-ecule and one and a half 4,4'-bi-pyridine mol-ecules. The half-molecule is completed by inversion symmetry. The Co(II) atom is coordin-ated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two N atoms from two thio-cyanate anions, one O atom from dimethyl sulfoxide as a terminal ligand and three N atoms from three 4,4'-bi-pyridine mol-ecules as bridging ligands linking the cations, with a Co?Co separation of 11.5964?(5)?Å. This generates a two-dimensional structure parallel to (-103). A C-H?S hydrogen bond links the layers into a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework. The layers are stacked in an ABC fashion preventing the occurrence of inter-layer void space and hence leading to the absence of lattice solvent and/or organic guest mol-ecules in the structure.

Project description:The polymeric title complex, [Ni2(CN)4(C10H8N2)] n , was obtained serendipitously under hydro-thermal conditions. The asymmetric unit consists of one half of an [Ni(CN)4](2-) anion with the Ni(2+) cation situated on an inversion centre, and one half of an [Ni(2,2'-bpy)](2+) cation (2,2'-bpy is 2,2'-bi-pyridine), with the second Ni(2+) cation situated on a twofold rotation axis. The two Ni(2+) cations exhibit different coordination spheres. Whereas the coordination of the metal in the anion is that of a slightly distorted square defined by four C-bound cyanide ligands, the coordination in the cation is that of a distorted octa-hedron defined by four N-bound cyanide ligands and two N atoms from the chelating 2,2'-bpy ligand. The two different Ni(2+) cations are alternately bridged by the cyanide ligands, resulting in a two-dimensional structure extending parallel to (010). Within the sheets, π-π inter-actions between pyridine rings of neighbouring 2,2'-bpy ligands, with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.687 (3) Å, are present. The crystal packing is dominated by van der Waals forces. A weak C-H⋯N inter-action between adjacent sheets is also observed.

Project description:The structure of the dinuclear title complex, [Cu(2)(C(5)H(9)O(2))(4)(C(5)H(5)N)(2)], represents a monoclinic polymorph of the previously reported triclinic form [Blewett et al. (2006 ?). Acta Cryst. E62, m420-m422]. Each carboxyl-ate group is bidentate bridging and the distorted octa-hedral geometry about each Cu(II) atom is completed by a pyridine N atom and the other Cu atom [Cu?Cu = 2.6139?(7)?Å]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are connected into supra-molecular chains via ?-? inter-actions formed by the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.552?(3)?Å] and these are connected into a two-dimensional array in the ac plane by C-H?? contacts. One of the tert-butyl groups is disordered over two orientations in a 0.734?(6):0.266?(6) ratio.

Project description:In the title monomeric manganese(II) complex, [Mn(CH3COO)2(C10H8N2)(H2O)2], the metal ion is coordinated by a bidentate 2,2'-bi-pyridine (bpy) ligand, two water mol-ecules and two axial acetate anions, resulting in a highly distorted octa-hedral environment. The aqua ligands are stabilized by the formation of strong intra-molecular hydrogen bonds with the uncoordinated acetate O atoms, giving rise to pseudo-bridging arrangement of the terminal acetate groups. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form [010] zigzag chains via O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the aqua ligands and acetate O atoms. Further, the water and bpy ligands are trans to each other, and are arranged in an off-set fashion showing inter-molecular π-π stacking between nearly parallel bi-py rings, the centroid-centroid separations being 3.8147 (12) and 3.9305 (13) Å.

Project description:In the complex cation of the title salt, [CrCl(C2H6OS)5]Cl2, the Cr(III) ion is coordinated by one chloride ligand and five O atoms from dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) ligands, leading to a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination environment [O-Cr-O angles range from 86.69 (16) to 92.87 (16)°]. In the crystal, complex cations are arranged in hexa-gonally packed rows parallel to [010], with the chloride counter-anions situated in between. The inter-actions between cations and anions are mainly ionic in nature.
