The neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses represent a group of disorders characterized by neurodegeneration and intracellular accumulation of an auto-fluorescent lipopigment (ceroid lipofuscin). Together, they represent the most prevalent class of childhood neurodegenerative disease.
