ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C9H9IO3, the mol-ecules are close to planar [maximum deviation from benzene ring plane = 0.229?(5)?Å for the methyl carboxylate C atom] with the methyl groups oriented away from each other. In the crystal, mol-ecules form stacked layers parallel to the ab plane, where every layer has either the iodine or meth-oxy/methyl carboxyl-ate substituents pointing towards each other in an alternating fashion.

Project description:In the title compound, C22H32O4, the atoms of the methyl ester group and the alk-oxy O atoms are all coplanar with the central aromatic ring, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.008 Å. Bonds to the methyl-ene and cyclo-hexyl groups are also very close to this plane, so that the mol-ecule is essentially flat, apart from the cyclo-hexyl groups. The mean planes through the cyclo-hexyl groups are tilted by 30.08 (9) and 36.14 (7)° with respect to the central aromatic ring. In the crystal, pairs of mol-ecules linked by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form planar units which are stacked along the a axis, with an average inter-planar distance of 3.549 (2) Å. Stacking appears to be stabilized by further weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compounds, C10H11BrO4, (I), and C9H9BrO4, (II), are derivatives of bromo-hy-droxy-benzoic acids. Compound (II) crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules (A and B) in the asymmetric unit. In both (I) and (II), the O-CH2-O-CH3 side chain is not in its fully extended conformation; the O-C-O-C torsion angle is 67.3 (3) ° in (I), and -65.8 (3) and -74.1 (3)° in mol-ecules A and B, respectively, in compound (II). In the crystal of (I), mol-ecules are linked by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming C(5) chains along [010]. The chains are linked by short Br⋯O contacts [3.047 (2) Å], forming sheets parallel to the bc plane. The sheets are linked via C-H⋯π inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional architecture. In the crystal of (II), mol-ecules A and B are linked to form R 2 (2)(8) dimers via two strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. These dimers are linked into ⋯A-B⋯A-B⋯A-B⋯ [C 2 (2)(15)] chains along [011] by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The chains are linked by slipped parallel π-π inter-actions [inter-centroid distances = 3.6787 (18) and 3.8431 (17) Å], leading to the formation of slabs parallel to the bc plane.

Project description:The title compound, C(7)H(8)INO, which crystallizes with three independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit, was prepared by the reaction of 3-meth-oxy-6-methyl-pyridine with KI and I(2) in tetra-hydro-furan solution. In the crystal structure, the three independent mol-ecules are arranged in a similar orientation with the three polar meth-oxy groups aligned on one side and the three non-polar methyl groups on the other side. The three mol-ecules, excluding methyl H atoms, are essentially planar, with r.m.s. deviations of 0.0141?(1), 0.0081?(1) and 0.0066?(2)Å. The three pyridine rings make dihedral angles of 58.09?(3) 66.64?(4) and 71.5?(3)°. The crystal structure features rather weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds, which link two mol-ecules into dimers, and short I?N contacts [4.046?(3)?Å].
