S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) analogues have previously demonstrated their utility as chemical reporters of methyltransferases. Here we describe the facile, large-scale synthesis of Se-alkyl Se-adenosyl-L-selenomethionine (SeAM) analogues and their precursor, Se-adenosyl-L-selenohomocysteine (SeAH).
