Recent studies demonstrate that inflammatory signals regulate hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) is often induced with infection and has a key role in the stress granulopoiesis response. However, its effects on HSCs are less clear.
