The structural, electronic and magnetic properties of quasi-one-dimensional MoS<sub>2</sub> nanowires, passivated by extra sulfur, have been determined using <i>ab initio</i> density-functional theory. The nanostructures were simulated using several different models based on experimental electron microscopy images.
