Crystal structure of bis-(4-allyl-2-meth-oxy-phen-yl) terephthalate.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C28H26O6, contains one half-mol-ecule, with the complete molecule generated by a crystallographic inversion center. The central terephthalate and meth-oxy-benzene rings are approximately perpendicular, making a dihedral angle of 80.31?(5)°. No specific directional contacts are noted in the crystal packing. The terminal vinyl group is disordered over two orientations with an occupancy ratio of 0.796?(4):0.204?(4).

Project description:In the title compound, C14H18O8, (I), the meth-oxy-carbonyl [-C(=O)OCH3] and the acetic acid [-CH2C(=O)OH] groups are inclined to the benzene ring by 79.24?(11) and 76.71?(13)°, respectively, and are normal to each other with a dihedral angle of 90.00?(13)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by a pair of O-H?O hydrogen bonds forming the familiar acetic acid inversion dimer. The dimers are linked by two C-H?O hydrogen bonds and an offset ?-? inter-action [inter-centroid distance = 3.6405?(14)?Å], forming layers lying parallel to the (10) plane. The layers are linked by a third C-H?O hydrogen bond and a C-H?? inter-action to form a supra-molecular framework.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C20H21N3O3, the allyl substituent is rotated out of the plane of its attached phenyl ring [torsion angle 100.66 (15)°]. In the crystal, C-HMthphn⋯OMthphn (Mthphn = meth-oxy-phen-yl) hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of (100) layers that are connected into a three-dimensional network by C-H⋯π(ring) inter-actions, together with π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.7318 (10) Å] between parallel phenyl rings. Hirshfeld surface analysis indicates that the most important contributions to the crystal packing are from H⋯H (48.7%) and H⋯C/C⋯H (23.3%) inter-actions. Computational chemistry reveals that the C-HMthphn⋯OMthphn hydrogen bond energy is 47.1 kJ mol-1. The theoretical structure, optimized by density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/ 6-311 G(d,p) level, is compared with the experimentally determined mol-ecular structure. The HOMO-LUMO behaviour was elucidated to determine the energy gap.

Project description:The title compound, C20H22N8O2, was synthesized by the coupling reaction of a sodium tetra-zolate salt and di-bromo-butane in a molar ratio of 2:1. The reaction can produce several possible regioisomers and the title compound was separated as the major product. The X-ray crystallographic study confirmed that the title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic P21/c space group and possesses a bridging butyl-ene group that connects two identical phenyl tetra-zole moieties. The butyl-ene group is attached not to the first but the second nitro-gen atoms of both tetra-zole rings. The dihedral angles between the phenyl groups and the adjacent tetra-zolyl rings are 5.32?(6) and 15.37?(7)°. In the crystal, the mol-ecules form centrosymmetric dimers through C-H?O hydrogen bonds between a C-H group of the butyl-ene linker and the O atom of a meth-oxy group.

Project description:In the title β-thio-carbonyl compound, C16H16O3S, the adjacent meth-oxy and carbonyl O atoms are synperiplanar [the O-C-C-O torsion angle is 19.8 (4)°] and are separated by 2.582 (3) Å. The dihedral angle between the rings is 40.11 (16)°, and the meth-oxy group is coplanar with the benzene ring to which it is connected [the C-C-O-C torsion angle is 179.1 (3)°]. The most notable feature of the crystal packing is the formation of methine and methyl C-H⋯O(carbon-yl) inter-actions that lead to a supra-molecular chain with a zigzag topology along the c axis. Chains pack with no specific inter-molecular inter-actions between them.

Project description:The title molecule, C44H30O8, lies about a crystallographic inversion centre located at the centre of the central benzene ring. The benzene rings in the benzoyl and the terephthalate units make dihedral angles of 67.05?(7)° and 57.57?(7)°, respectively, with the naphthalene ring system. There is an intra-molecular C-H?O inter-action between the ketonic carbonyl O atom and an H atom on the naphthalene ring system. In the crystal, C-H?O inter-action of the benzene ring in the benzoyl group and weak C=O?? inter-action [O?centroid = 3.375?(2)?Å] of the naphthalene ring with the O atom in the ketonic carbonyl group are observed. These inter-actions form layers parallel to the bc plane.

The central nitro-gen of the triazole ring is protonated. The dihedral angles between the triazole ring and the 3,4,5-tri-meth-oxy-phenyl ring planes are 34.31?(4) and 45.03?(5)°, while that between the 3,4,5-tri-meth-oxy-phenyl rings is 51.87?(5)°. In the crystal, the mol-ecules, along with two methanol solvent mol-ecules are linked into an R (4) 4(10) centrosymmetric dimer by N-H?O and O-H?N hydrogen bonds.

In the crystal, the Cl(-) ions and water mol-ecules are linked by pairs of Owater-H⋯Cl(-) hydrogen bonds and further linked to the phospho-nium cation by P-H(+)⋯Cl(-) and CAr/OMe-H⋯Owater hydrogen bonds to form an infinite one-dimensional chain along the [010] direction.
