Crystal structure of 3-(2,5-di-meth-oxy-phen-yl)propionic acid.

ABSTRACT: In the crystal of the title compound, C11H14O4, the aromatic ring is almost coplanar with the 2-position meth-oxy group with which it subtends a dihedral of 0.54 (2)°, while the 5-position meth-oxy group makes a corresponding dihedral angle of just 5.30 (2)°. The angle between the mean planes of the aromatic ring and the propionic acid group is 78.56 (2)°. The fully extended propionic side chain is in a trans configuration with a C-C-C-C torsion angle of -172.25 (7)°. In the crystal, hydrogen bonding is limited to dimer formation via R 2 (2)(8) rings. The hydrogen-bonded dimers are stacked along the b axis. The average planes of the two benzene rings in a dimer are parallel to each other, but at an offset of 4.31 (2) Å. Within neighbouring dimers along the [101] direction, the average mol-ecular benzene planes are almost perpendicular to each other, with a dihedral angle of 85.33 (2)°.

Crystal structure of [5-n-butyl-10-(2,5-di-meth-oxy-phen-yl)-2,3,7,8,13,12,17,18-octa-ethyl-porphyrin-ato]nickel(II).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title nickel(II) porphyrin, [Ni(C48H60N4O2)], contains one independent mol-ecule. The average Ni-N bond length is 1.917 (13) Å. The mol-ecules are arranged in a closely spaced lattice structure in which neighbouring porphyrins are oriented in inversion-related dimers. The nickel(II) porphyrin is characterized by a significant degree of a ruffled (B 1u ) conformation with small contributions from saddle (B 2u ) and wave (y) [Eg (y)], as determined using normal structural decomposition. Disorder in the 2,5-di--meth-oxy-phenyl substituent was modelled over two positions with a 60% occupancy for the major moiety. One of the ethyl groups is also disordered over two positions and was modelled with the major moiety being present in 51.3% occupancy.

Project description:The title compound, C17H27O8P, was prepared by Michaelis-Arbuzov reaction of ethyl 2-bromo-2-(2,3,4-tri-meth-oxy-phen-yl)acetate and triethyl phosphite. Such compounds rarely crystallize, but single crystals were recovered after the initial oil was left for approximately 10 years. The bond angle of the sp (3)-hybridized C atom connecting the benzene derivative with the phospho unit is widened marginally [112.5 (2)°]. The terminal P-O bond length of 1.464 (2) Å clearly indicates a double bond, whereas the two O atoms of the eth-oxy groups connected to the phospho-rous atom have bond lengths of 1.580 (2) Å and 1.581 (3) Å. The three meth-oxy groups emerge out of the benzene-ring plane due to steric hindrance [C-C-O-C torsion angles = -179.9 (3)°, -52.9 (4)° and 115.3 (4)°]. In the crystal, inversion dimers linked by pairs of C-H⋯O=P hydrogen bonds generate R 2 (2)(14) loops. The chosen crystal was modelled as a non-merohedral twin.

Project description:In the title compound, C34H30O12P2, which was synthesized via the esterification of dimethyl 2,5-dioxo-1,4-cyclo-hexa-nedi-carboxyl-ate with diphenyl chloro-phosphate, the mol-ecule has crystallographic inversion symmetry. The dihedral angles between the plane of the cyclo-hexa-1,4-diene ring and those of the two benzene rings of the substituent phosphate groups are 41.0 (1) and 89.5 (1)°, while that with the ester group is 3.1 (3)°. In the crystal, only weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present.

Project description:The title compound, C16H26NO2 (+)·C7H5O2 (-), is a benzoate salt of the painkiller Tramadol. The six-membered cyclo-hexane ring of the cation adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation and carries OH and 3-meth-oxy-phenyl substituents at the 2-position and a protonated methyl-aza-niumylmethyl group at the 3-position. In addition, a weak intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bond is observed in the cation. In the crystal, weak O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the components into chains along [010]. A C-H⋯π contact is also observed.

Crystal structure of 2-chloro-3-(di-meth-oxy-meth-yl)-6-meth-oxy-quinoline.

Project description:The title compound, C13H14ClNO3, crystallizes with Z' = 2 in the space group Pca21, but a search for possible additional crystallographic symmetry found none. However, the crystal structure exhibits pseudosymmetry as the two independent mol-ecules are related by an approximate but non-crystallographic inversion located close to (0.38, 0.26, 1/2) in the selected asymmetric unit, and the structure exhibits partial inversion twinning. The approximate inversion relationship between the two mol-ecules in the selected asymmetric unit is clearly shown by comparison of the relevant torsion angle in the two mol-ecules; the corresponding torsion angles have similar, although not identical magnitudes but with opposite signs. The mean planes of the quinoline rings in the two independent mol-ecules are almost parallel, with a dihedral angle of only 0.16 (3)° between them, and the mutual orientation of these rings permits significant π-π stacking inter-actions between them [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7579 (15) and 3.7923 (15) Å]. In addition, the bimolecular aggregates which are related by translation along [010] are linked by a further π-π stacking inter-action [centroid-centroid distance = 3.7898 (15) Å], so forming a π-stacked chain running parallel to [010]. However, there are no C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds in the structure nor, despite the number of independent aromatic rings, are there any C-H⋯π hydrogen bonds; hence there are no direction-specific inter-actions between adjacent π-stacked chains.
