Crystal structure of 2,3-bis-[(4-tert-butyl-2,6-di-methyl-phen-yl)imino]-butane.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C28H40N2, was obtained from the condensation reaction of 4-tert-butyl-2,6-di-methyl-aniline and butane-2,3-dione. The mol-ecule lies on an inversion centre. The C=N bond has an E conformation. The plane of the benzene ring is almost perpendicular to the 1,4-di-aza-butadiene mean plane [dihedral angle = 89.8 (9)°].

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(64)H(80)N(2), lies on an inversion center wherein the central butane-diimine fragment [N=C(Me)-C(Me)=N] is essentially planar [maximum deviation = 0.002 (2) Å] and its mean plane forms a dihedral of 70.88 (10)° with the attached benzene ring. In the symmetry-unique part of the mol-ecule, the dihedral angles between the benzene ring bonded to the N atom and the other two benzene rings are 89.61 (6) and 82.77 (6)°.

Project description:In the title solvated salt, C9H14N(+)·Cl(-)·C19H24O2·0.5C7H7, two mol-ecules of 4,4'-(propane-2,2-di-yl)bis-(2,6-di-methyl-phenol) are linked via O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds to two chloride ions, each of which is also engaged in N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonding to a 4-tert-butyl-pyridinium cation, giving a cyclic hydrogen-bonded entity centred at 1/2, 1/2, 1/2. The toluene solvent mol-ecule resides in the lattice and resides on an inversion centre; the disorder of the methyl group requires it to have a site-occupancy factor of 0.5. No crystal packing channels are observed.

Project description:The title compound, C(22)H(31)NO, has been synthesized from 4-bromo-methyl-2,6-di-tert-butyl-phenol and N-methyl-aniline. There are two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The aniline ring in each of the independent mol-ecules was found to be disordered, with site occupation factors 0.621 (10)/0.379 (10) and 0.605 (10)/0.395 (10).
