Crystal structure of C-2-benzo-thia-zole-N-methyl-nitrone.

ABSTRACT: The mol-ecule of the title compound {systematic name: N-[(benzo-thia-zol-2-yl)methyl-idene]methyl-amine N-oxide}, C9H8N2OS, is close to planar [maximum deviation from the mean plane = 0.081?(2)?Å], its conformation being stabilized by a strong intra-molecular attractive S?O inter-action [2.6977?(16)?Å]. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers by pairs of weak C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(8)H(6)BrNS(2), is almost planar with a dihedral angle of 0.9 (1)° between the benzene and thia-zole rings. The values of the geometry-based index of aromaticity (HOMA) and the nucleus-independent chemical shift (NICS) for the two cyclic fragments of the title mol-ecule are 0.95 and -9.61, respectively, for the benzene ring, and 0.69 and -7.71, respectively, for the thia-zole ring. They show that the benzene ring exhibits substanti-ally higher cyclic π-electron delocalization than the thia-zole ring. Comparison with other similar benzothia-zole fragments reveals a similar trend.

The ester C-O-C-C side chain has an anti orientation [torsion angle = -155.2 (3)°]. In the crystal, weak aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions are observed between the phenyl and pyrimidine rings [centroid-centroid seperation = 3.666 (2) Å].

The ring systems are nearly coplanar [inter-planar angle of 5.38 (2)°] with an associated intra-molecular S⋯O=C short contact of 2.7082 (4) Å. The packing involves C-H⋯O, C-H⋯π and π-π contacts.

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C(18)H(10)N(2)S(3), consists of a central thio-phene ring and two terminal thia-zole rings. The two S atoms of the thia-zole rings are trans to the thio-phene S atom sulfur. The thia-zole rings are approximately coplanar with the thio-phene ring, with dihedral angles of 6.23 (11) and 4.81 (11)° between them. In the crystal, zigzag chains are formed along [010] by weak C-H⋯N inter-actions.

New platinum(II) complexes with benzo-thia-zole ligands.

Project description:Four new platinum(II) complexes, namely tetra-ethyl-ammonium tri-bromido-(2-methyl-1,3-benzo-thia-zole-κN)platinate(II), [NEt4][PtBr3(C8H7NS)] (1), tetra-ethyl-ammonium tri-bromido-(6-meth-oxy-2-methyl-1,3-benzo-thia-zole-κN)platinate(II), [NEt4][PtBr3(C9H9NOS)] (2), tetra-ethyl-ammonium tri-bromido-(2,5,6-trimethyl-1,3-benzo-thia-zole-κN)platinate(II), [NEt4][PtBr3(C10H11NS)] (3), and tetra-ethyl-ammonium tri-bromido-(2-methyl-5-nitro-1,3-benzo-thia-zole-κN)platinate(II), [NEt4][PtBr3(C8H6N2O2S)] (4), have been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. These species are precursors of compounds with potential application in cancer chemotherapy. All four platinum(II) complexes adopt the expected square-planar coordination geometry, and the benzo-thia-zole ligand is engaged in bonding to the metal atom through the imine N atom (Pt-N). The Pt-N bond lengths are normal: 2.035 (5), 2.025 (4), 2.027 (5) and 2.041 (4) Å for complexes 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively. The benzo-thia-zole ligands are positioned out of the square plane, with dihedral angles ranging from 76.4 (4) to 88.1 (4)°. The NEt4 cation in 3 is disordered with 0.57/0.43 occupancies.

Project description:In the title compound, C(14)H(9)O(2)S, the benzothia-zole unit is oriented at a dihedral angle of 7.1 (1)° with respect to the benzodioxole unit. The dioxole ring adopts flattened envelope conformation with the methyl-ene C atom at the flap. The crystal packing is stabilized by π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.705 (1) and 3.752 (1) Å], C-H⋯π inter-actions and a short S⋯S contact of 3.485 (1) Å.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C15H9N3O2S, the central imidazo[2,1-b][1,3]benzo-thia-zole heterotricyclic unit is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.021 Å). The terminal phenyl ring and nitro group are twisted by 9.06 (1) and 11.02 (4)°, respectively, from the mean plane of the heterotricycle. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by π-π stacking inter-actions into columns along [100]; the inter-planar distance between neighboring imidazo[2,1-b][1,3]benzo-thia-zole planes within the columns is 3.370 (2) Å. Furthermore, the columns interact with each other by secondary S⋯O [2.9922 (10) and 3.1988 (11) Å] inter-actions, forming a three-dimensional framework.

Project description:The linear two-coordinate silver (I) complex [Ag(C4H2NO2S)(C4H3NO2S)] or [Ag(2-Htza)(2-tza)] is reported (2-Htza = 1,3-thia-zole-2-carb-oxy-lic acid). The AgI ion is coordinated by two heterocyclic N atoms from two ligands in a linear configuration, forming a discrete coordination complex. There is an O-H?O hydrogen bond between 2-tza- and 2tzaH of adjacent complexes. The hydrogen atom is shared between the two oxygen atoms. This inter-action produces a hydrogen-bonded tape parallel to the [110] direction, which is augmented through inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the bound thia-zole groups. There is a further rather long Ag?O inter-action [2.8401?(13)?Å, compared with a mean of 2.54?(11)?Å for 23 structures in the CSD] that assembles these tapes into columns, between which there are C-H?? inter-actions, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.
