Necroptosis is a cell death pathway regulated by the receptor interacting protein kinase 3 (RIPK3) and the mixed lineage kinase domain-like (MLKL) pseudokinase. How MLKL executes plasma membrane rupture upon phosphorylation by RIPK3 remains controversial.
