Complete Genome Sequences of Group III Campylobacter Bacteriophages PC5 and PC14.

ABSTRACT: Here, we present the whole-genome sequences of bacteriophages PC5 and PC14 specific for Campylobacter jejuni, a leading cause of gastroenteritis in developed countries. Their genomes are syntenic to those of group III Campylobacter bacteriophages and share more than 90% identity at the nucleotide level with members of this group.

Project description:We report here the genome sequences of 38 newly isolated bacteriophages using Gordonia terrae 3612 (ATCC 25594) and Gordonia neofelifaecis NRRL59395 as bacterial hosts. All of the phages are double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) tail phages with siphoviral morphologies, with genome sizes ranging from 17,118 bp to 93,843 bp and spanning considerable nucleotide sequence diversity.

Project description:We present complete genome sequences of 13 Propionibacterium acnes phages isolated from urban raw sewage. They belong to the family Siphoviridae, have genome sizes of 29,450.6 ± 256.5 nucleotides and G+C contents of 54.14% ± 0.22% and contain 42 to 45 coding DNA sequences (CDS). Genomic sequences of 9 of 13 phages were divergent by 6 to 10%, distinguishing them as species.

Bacteriophages infecting members of the phylum Bacteroidetes, however, have not been well represented in public genome databases. Here we announce the genome sequences of two bacteriophages, P12024S and P12024L, that were isolated from coastal seawater and lytically infect Persicivirga sp. IMCC12024, a marine Bacteroidetes bacterium.
