Isolates of the zoonotic pathogen <i>Campylobacter</i> are generally considered to be unable to metabolize glucose due to lack of key glycolytic enzymes. However, the Entner-Doudoroff (ED) pathway has been identified in <i>Campylobacter jejuni</i> subsp. <i>doylei</i> and a few <i>C. coli</i> isolates.
