In the presence of nanocatalyst, L-cysteine reduce HAuCl<sub>4</sub> rapidly to form gold nanoparticles (AuNP), and a quick nanocatalytic preparation procedure was established for Au/AuNP sol with highly active surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) effect and good stability.
