Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) is the causative agent of Kaposi's sarcoma, primary effusion lymphoma, and multicentric Castleman's disease. KSHV establishes a life-long infection in its host and alternates between a latent and lytic infection state.
