ABSTRACT: The data presented in this article are related to the published entitled "Whole-genome sequencing of Bacillus velezensis LS69, a strain with a broad inhibitory spectrum against pathogenic bacteria" (Liu et al., 2017) [1]. Genome analysis revealed B. velezensis LS69 has a good potential for biocontrol and plant growth promotion. This article provides an extended analysis of the genetic islands, core genes and amylolysin loci of B. velezensis LS69.

Genome sequence data of Bacillus velezensis BP1.2A and BT2.4.

Project description:Here, we report the complete genome sequence data of the biocontrol strains Bacillus velezensis BP1.2A and BT2.4 isolated from Vietnamese crop plants. The size of the genomes is 3,916,868 bp (BP1.2A), and 3,922,686 bp (BT2.4), respectively. The BioProjects have been deposited at NCBI GenBank. The GenBank accession numbers for the B. velezensis strains are PRJNA634914 (BP1.2A) and PRJNA634832 (BT2.4) for the BioProjects, CP085504 (BP1.2A) and CP085505 (BT2.4) for the chromosomes, GCA_013284785.2 (BP2.1A), and GCA_013284785.2 (BT2.4) for GenBank assembly accessions, and SAMN15012571 (BP1.2A) and SAMN15009897 (BT2.4) for the BioSamples. Both genomes were closely related to FZB42, the model strain for plant growth promoting bacilli.

Complete genome sequence data of chitin-degrading Bacillus velezensis RB.IBE29.

Project description:This work reports the complete genome sequence of chitinolytic Bacillus velezensis RB.IBE29 recently isolated from the rhizosphere of black pepper cultivated in the Central Highlands region of Vietnam. This bacterium had strong antagonistic activity against phytopathogens and possessed a novel chitinase system. The complete genome of strain RB.IBE29 was sequenced using the platforms of Illumina (2×150 PE) and Oxford Nanopore technologies. Assembly showed that strain RB.IBE29 has one 3,957,092-bp circular chromosome with 46.5 % G+C content. DFAST analysis revealed the genome contains 3819 protein-coding genes, 27 rRNAs, 86 tRNAs, 1 tmRNA, 144 pseudogenes, and shares an ANI value of 97.51 % with that of reported B. velezensis NRRL B-41580. The B. velezensis RB.IBE29 genome possesses at least 42 genes concerning heavy metal resistance and plant-growth promotion. CAZymes analysis showed that 103 genes coding for carbohydrate-active enzymes were predicted in the genome, including 41 genes for glycoside hydrolases, 34 genes for glycosyl transferases, 3 genes for polysaccharide lyases, 17 genes for carbohydrate esterases, 6 genes for auxiliary activities, and 2 genes for carbohydrate-binding modules. Of these deduced enzymes, at least 8 probably possess activities against phytopathogens, such as family 18 chitinases, family 16 glucanase, and family 46 chitosanase. AntiSMASH analysis exhibited that 15 biosynthetic gene clusters were found in the genome; among them, 5 show no sequence similarity to known bacterial clusters. The raw sequences in this work were deposited in Mendeley Data. The complete genome sequence of strain RB.IBE29 was submitted to the DDBJ/GenBank/EMBL under accession number AP028932. The obtained data provide insight into the biocontrol ability and plant-growth promotion of B. velezensis RB.IBE29. The data are valuable for further explorations concerning crop production and other fields using gene expression approaches.

Comparative genome analysis of Bacillus velezensis reveals a potential for degrading lignocellulosic biomass.

Project description:Genomes of 24 sequenced Bacillus velezensis strains were characterized to identity shared and unique genes of lignocellulolytic enzymes and predict potential to degrade lignocellulose. All 24 strains had genes that encoded lignocellulolytic enzymes, with potential to degrade cellulose and hemicelluloses. Several lignocellulosic genes related to cellulose degradation were universally present, including one GH5 (endo-1,4-?-glucanase), one GH30 (glucan endo-1,6-?-glucosidase), two GH4 (6-phospho-?-glucosidase, 6-phospho-?-glucosidase), one GH1 (6-phospho-?-galactosidase), one GH16 (?-glucanase) and three GH32 (two sucrose-6-phosphate hydrolase and levanase). However, in the absence of gene(s) for cellobiohydrolase, it was predicted that none of the 24 strains would be able to directly hydrolyse cellulose. Regarding genes for hemicellulose degradation, four GH43 (1,4-?-xylosidase; except strain 9912D), one GH11 (endo-1,4-?-xylanase), three GH43 (two arabinan endo-1,5-?-L-arabinosidase and one arabinoxylan arabinofuranohydrolase), two GH51 (?-N-arabinofuranosidase), one GH30 (glucuronoxylanase), one GH26 (?-mannosidase) and one GH53 (arabinogalactan endo-1,4-?-galactosidase) were present. In addition, two PL1 (pectate lyase) and one PL9 (pectate lyase) with potential for pectin degradation were conserved among all 24 strains. In addition, all 24 Bacillus velezensis had limited representation of the auxiliary activities super-family, consistent with a limited ability to degrade lignin. Therefore, it was predicted that for these bacteria to degrade lignin, pretreatment of lignocellulosic substrates may be required. Finally, based on in silico studies, we inferred that Bacillus velezensis strains may degrade a range of polysaccharides in lignocellulosic biomasses.

Draft genome sequence data of plant growth promoting and calcium carbonate precipitating Bacillus velezensis CMU008.

Project description:A Gram-positive, spore forming bacterium designated as strain CMU008 was isolated from a soil sample in Chiang Mai University campus, Chiang Mai, Thailand. This strain is able to precipitate calcium carbonate and promote growth of sunflower sprouts. The whole genome sequencing was done using Illumina MiSeq platform. The draft genome of strain CMU008 was 4,016,758 bp in length with 4,220 protein coding sequences and an average G + C content of 46.01 mol%. The ANIb values of strain CMU008 and the type strains of its closely related neighbors, Bacillus velezensis NRRL B-41580T and B. velezensis KCTC13012T were 98.52%. Phylogenomic tree also supports the assignment of strain CMU008 as B. velezensis. The genome sequence data of B. velezensis strain CMU008 provide insightful information for the taxonomic characterization and further biotechnological exploitation of this strain. The draft genome sequence data of B. velezensis strain CMU008 has been deposited in the DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank databases under the accession number JAOSYX000000000.

Project description:The Bacillus velezensis strain NBNZ-0060 was isolated from the bottom sediment samples of the lake Jin in Wuhan, China. This strain is an aerobic denitrifying bacterium and able to promote growth of submerged macrophytes. The 3,929,784 bp entire genome contains 3,781 coding sequences (CDS), 27 rRNAs, 85 tRNAs, 5 ncRNAs, with an average G + C content of 46.5%. The average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA values between strain NBNZ-0060 and Bacillus velezensis NRRL B-41580T were 98.28% and 84.5%, respectively. The genome data have been deposited in NCBI with the accession number CP133277.1.

Project description:The genome sequence of the commercial probiotic strain "Bacillus polyfermenticus" GF423 was determined. Comparison of the 4.1-Mb genome sequence revealed Bacillus velezensis FZB42 as its closest relative. Based on the genome sequence, we propose that this probiotic strain be renamed Bacillus velezensis variant polyfermenticus.
