The hemorrhagic septicemic disease vibriosis caused by <i>Vibrio anguillarum</i> shows noticeable similarities to invasive septicemia in humans, and in this case, the <i>V. anguillarum</i>-host system has the potential to serve as a model for understanding native eukaryotic host-pathogen interactions.
