The pathophysiologic mechanisms of epileptogenesis are poorly understood, and no effective therapy exists for suppressing epileptogenesis. Numerous reports have shown that nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD<sup>+</sup>) has neuroprotective effects, suggesting its potential use for treating epileptogenesis.
