Amoeba-associated microorganisms (AAMs) are frequently isolated from water networks. In this paper, we report the isolation and characterization of <i>Protochlamydia massiliensis</i>, an obligate intracellular Gram-negative bacterium belonging to the <i>Parachlamydiaceae</i> family in the <i>Chlamydiales</i> order, from a cooling water tower.
