Unprecedented regioselectivity to the branched aldehyde product in the hydroformylation of propene was attained on embedding a rhodium complex in supramolecular assembly L2, formed by coordination-driven self-assembly of tris(meta-pyridyl)phosphine and zinc(II) porpholactone.
