ABSTRACT: We sequenced the first blaVIM-1-positive Klebsiella pneumoniae strain isolated in Singapore. The isolate belongs to multilocus sequence type 2542 (ST2542), and blaVIM-1 was the first gene in an integron that also contained aacA4, aphA15, aadA1, catB2, qacEdelta1, and sul1.

Project description:Here, we report the draft genome sequence of Klebsiella pneumoniae strain AWD5, isolated from an automobile workshop in India. The de novo assembly resulted in a 4,807,409 bp genome containing 25 rRNA genes, 81 tRNAs, and 4,636 coding sequences (CDS). It carries important genes for polyaromatic hydrocarbon degradation and benzoate degradation.

Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolate from a New York City Hospital Belonging to Sequence Type 258 and Carrying blaKPC-2 and blaVIM-4.

Project description:Among 69 of 139 (49.6%) carbapenem-nonsusceptible Enterobacteriaceae carrying blaKPC, 1 Klebsiella pneumoniae was also positive for blaVIM. The isolate belonged to sequence type 258 (ST258) and carried blaKPC-2 on a copy of Tn4401a and blaVIM-4 on a class 1 integron. Genes were located on distinct plasmids belonging to Inc types A/C and FII. Elevated expression of the efflux pump AcrAB-TolC (acrA, 15.3 times) and reduced expression of outer membrane protein genes ompK35 and ompK37 (0.16 and 0.081 times, respectively) associated with various amino acid alterations on OmpK37 were observed. The presence of two carbapenemases in ST258 K. pneumoniae is of great concern due to the ability of this organism to widely disseminate.

Project description:A clinical isolate of extended-spectrum-β-lactamase-producing Klebsiella quasipneumoniae subsp. similipneumoniae 06-219 with hypermucoviscosity phenotypes obtained from a urine culture of an adult patient was used for whole-genome sequencing. Here, we report the draft genome sequences of this strain, consisting of 53 contigs with an ~5.6-Mb genome size and an average G+C content of 57.36%. The annotation revealed 6,622 coding DNA sequences and 77 tRNA genes.
