Genome Sequence of a Novel Alloherpesvirus Isolated from Glass Catfish (Kryptopterus bicirrhis).

ABSTRACT: The 149,343-bp genome of silurid herpesvirus 1, which was isolated in Thailand from glass catfish, was sequenced. The genome was most closely related to that of ictalurid herpesvirus 2, which infects black bullhead catfish. To our knowledge, this was the first silurid catfish alloherpesvirus genome to be sequenced.

Project description:Pseudomonas mosselii Gil3 was isolated from a catfish that survived from lethal challenge with hypervirulent Aeromonas hydrophila (vAh). When assayed in vitro, the bacterium showed antagonism against vAh. Sequence analysis revealed that the genome of P. mosselii Gil3 encodes numerous aromatic metabolism pathways and proteins for biosynthesis of antimicrobial compounds.

Complete genome sequence of a novel fish papillomavirus detected in farmed wels catfish (Silurus glanis).

Project description:A novel papillomavirus (PV) was detected in farmed wels catfish (Silurus glanis) in Hungary showing clinical signs resembling those of wels catfish herpesvirus disease. The whole genome of Silurus glanis papillomavirus 1 (SgPV1) was identified using next-generation sequencing. The 5,612-bp complete genome contains four predicted protein coding regions (E1, E2, L1, and L2), which seem to have homologues in every PV genome sequenced to date. Five complete fish PV genome sequences are available in the GenBank database. Their genomes range between 5,748 and 6,086 bp and contain the minimal PV backbone genes E1, E2, L2, and L1, unlike PVs of higher vertebrates, which have larger genomes (6.8-8.6 kbp) and additional (onco)genes. Considering the current species demarcation criteria for the family Papillomaviridae, the establishment of a novel species named "Nunpapillomavirus siluri" is proposed for the SgPV1 in a novel genus, "Nunpapillomavirus", in the subfamily Secondpapillomavirinae.

Complete genome sequence of a novel vitivirus isolated from grapevine.

Project description:A novel virus-like sequence from grapevine was identified by Illumina sequencing. The complete genome is 7,551 nucleotides in length, with polyadenylation at the 3' end. Translation of the sequence revealed five open reading frames (ORFs). The genomic organization was most similar to those of vitiviruses. The polymerase (ORF1) and coat protein (ORF4) genes shared 31 to 49% nucleotide and 40 to 70% amino acid sequence identities, respectively, with other grapevine vitiviruses. The virus was tentatively named grapevine virus F (GVF).

Project description:A new human gammapapillomavirus (HPV_MTS2) genome was isolated and fully cloned from a skin swab. The L1 open reading frame of HPV_MTS2 was 79% and 80% identical to those of its closest relatives, HPV type 149 (species Gamma-7 of the genus Gammapapillomavirus) and HPV isolate Dysk2 (GenBank accession no. KX781281), respectively, thus qualifying it as a new HPV type.

The L1 open reading frame of HPV ICB1 shares 70.54% nucleotide homology with its closest relative, HPV164, and thus constitutes a novel human gammapapillomavirus.
