CD4<sup>+</sup> T-cell-converted CD4<sup>-</sup>CD8<sup>-</sup> double negative (cDNT) have strong suppressive activity in the maintenance of immune tolerance, whereas IL-2 promotes cDNT proliferation and enhances cDNT resistance to apoptosis.
