Vitiligo is a skin disease that affects 1% of the population worldwide. Both environmental and genetic factors contribute to the risk of vitiligo. GZMB encodes the enzyme Granzyme B, which plays an important role in cytotoxic T cell-induced apoptosis, and it has been considered one of the candidate genes for vitiligo because of its connections with human immune system.
