Survey datasets on sick building syndrome: Causes and effects on selected public buildings in Lagos, Nigeria.

ABSTRACT: This dataset focuses on the causes and effects of sick building syndrome among users of selected facilities in Lagos. A mixed research approach of field measurement and cross-sectional survey was adopted. Descriptive statistics were implemented on the data acquired and are reported on tables and figures. The significance of this data leverages on providing insight and consciousness of sick building syndrome to users and occupants of constructed facilities. The survey dataset when analyzed can show direction on physical quantities levels that can be experienced in public buildings in tropical region.

Survey datasets on the influence of conflict management strategies on academic staff productivity in selected public universities in Nigeria.

Project description:The article presented data on the influence of conflict management strategies on productivity of Academic Staff of selected public universities in Nigeria. A total of 368 copies of questionnaire were administered to the academic staff of selected three (3) Public Universities in the South-West Zone of Nigeria and 325 copies were returned and deemed usable. This represents a response rate of 88.32%. Emphasis was laid on the year of establishment of the selected universities based on the fact that over the years, these universities are likely to have been exposed to conflicts and the strategies for managing them. The study adopted the quantitative approach with a descriptive research design to establish trends related to the objectives of the study. The questionnaire used for this study was adapted from the work of Rahim (2002) [4]. The population of this study included all the Academic Staff of the selected public universities. Data was analyzed with the use of multiple regression and structural equation modeling. The data set is made available and accessible for more comprehensive research.

Datasets on factors influencing trading on pedestrian bridges along Ikorodu road, Lagos, Nigeria.

Project description:The survey data was obtained from a study that investigated factors responsible for the patronage of the traders on the pedestrian bridges along Ikorodu road, Lagos state, Nigeria. Survey research was adopted for this investigation while data were primarily sourced. The sample frame adopted for this study was the average total number of people using the pedestrian bridges per day along Ikorodu road was estimated as 240,380, while the sample size was 384, based on Cochran׳s sample size formula. The convenience, non-probability sampling technique was used for the survey. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (frequency tables) and inferential statistics techniques (factor analysis for data reduction and categorization, communalities of variables and KMO) while Likert scale was used as a means of measurement. The datasets can be considered in the commerce and environmental policies of Lagos State and Nigeria with a view to recommending policies that will encourage easy movement of people and the effective uses of the transport facilities.

Project description:This article describes survey result on humanic clues and customer loyalty in selected hospitals in Lagos State, Nigeria. This paper obtains information from the customer experience management strategy in considering the techniques in which customer loyalty can be built. 365 copies of questionnaires were retrieved from the customers of the selected four private hospitals in Lagos State. The data gathered from the survey customers were subjected to inferential and descriptive statistics in order to ascertain the sum, mean, standard deviation and the relative importance index (RII). The retrieved copies of questionnaires were analysed utilising SPSS (22). Using the Categorical Regression CATREG analysis, the data article establish that humanic clues have positive influence on customer loyalty. The data collected is openly presented to enhance further analysis.

Data on the daily electricity load profile and solar photovoltaic (PV) system components for residential buildings in Lagos, Nigeria.

Project description:This article contains the average daily electric load profile (for 24 h of the day) for the five categories of residential buildings (duplex, single family bungalow, traditional court yard, flat/apartment dwelling and 'face-me-I-face-you') in three Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state of Lagos, Nigeria. In each of the LGAs, 10 buildings per residential building type were surveyed for the collection of data with the aid of a questionnaire. In each surveyed household, a household member completed the energy audit section of the questionnaire with the assistance of the questionnaire administrator while the section of the questionnaire designed as a time-of-use diary was left with the household for completion. For each building surveyed, the data retrieved from the completed time-of-use diary was used in Microsoft Excel for computing the hourly electricity load profile for the seven days of the week. In order to obtain the hourly energy load (in watts) for each building, the power rating of the appliances used during each of the 24 h of the day was summed and the result in watts was converted to kWh by dividing by 1000. Each dwelling's daily load profile was obtained as an average of the load profile for the seven days of the week. The article as well provides data on the solar photovoltaic systems' components designed to supply electricity to the building and the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of the systems for the base case scenario and different sensitivity cases obtained from simulations using HOMER Pro. The load profile data provided in this article can be reused by other researchers in the design of solar photovoltaic systems for residential buildings.

Project description:The article presented a survey data on work environment predictors and productivity of selected academic staff of selected public universities in Southern, Nigeria. The study adopted a quantitative approach with a survey research design to establish the major determinants of work environments in the selected public universities. Data was analysed with the use of structural equation modelling and the field data set is made widely accessible to enable critical or a more comprehensive investigation. The findings identified meaningful work and growth opportunities as predictive factors for maximizing productivity in the sampled institutions.

Project description:This study attempts to establish the relationships that exist between the different variables of organizational climate and job satisfaction among academic staff in some selected private Universities in South-West Nigeria, to ascertain related factors in organizational climate that can cause dissatisfaction among academics; and to determine if there is a significant difference in the way senior academics and junior academics perceive the existing organizational climate. A total of 384 copies of questionnaires were administered to selected five (5) private Universities in the South-West Zone of Nigeria but a total of 293 questionnaires were returned fully and appropriately filled. The study made use of appropriate statistics such as measurement model (Confirmatory Factor Analysis) and Multiple Regression to obtain results.

Project description:This data article contains the partial analysis (descriptive statistics) of data obtained from 1770 primary school pupils and secondary school students in three Local Government Areas of Ogun State, Nigeria. The schools are either privately owned or public (government owned) schools. The aim of the field survey is to measure the level and patterns of externalizing behavior of the respondents. The data was collected using a standardized questionnaire. The questionnaire is a modification of Achenbach manual for Child behavior checklist (Achenbach, 2001) [1] and manual for Youth self-report (Achenbach and Rescorla, 2001) [2]. The questionnaire was designed to suit the demographic and socio-cultural nature of the target population. Analysis of the data can provide useful insights to the patterns of externalizing behavior of primary school pupils and secondary school students.

Healthcare workers' perceptions about the use of mobile health technologies in public health facilities in Lagos, Nigeria.

Project description:BackgroundMobile health has enormous potential in healthcare due to the increasing use of mobile phones in low- and middle-income countries; its effective deployment, uptake, and utilization may result in improved health outcomes, including a reduction in neonatal deaths. However, there is a suboptimal uptake of mobile health technologies among healthcare workers in low-resource settings like Nigeria, which are often context-specific.ObjectiveTo investigate healthcare workers' perceptions of mobile health technologies in public health facilities in Lagos, Nigeria.MethodA qualitative study was conducted, and data were collected through six focus group discussions with 26 healthcare workers (doctors, nurses, and community health extension workers) from three public health facilities in Lagos, Nigeria. The collected data were analyzed using a thematic approach, where themes and subthemes were created.ResultsAlthough the participants acknowledged that mobile health enhances patient-provider communication and saves time, they identified altering of healthcare workers' routine practices, information overload, power and network failure, skepticism, lack of trust, and concerns over diagnostic accuracy as potential barriers to its uptake.ConclusionAddressing healthcare workers' perceptions of mobile health technologies may enhance the deployment and uptake of such solutions in Nigeria and similar low-resource settings. Developers and implementers of such can use them to create new or enhance existing mobile health solutions to better meet the needs and requirements of healthcare workers in low- to middle-income health settings, such as Lagos, Nigeria.
