Inorganic polyphosphate (polyP) constitutes one of the most conserved and ubiquitous molecules in biology. Recent work in bacteria demonstrated that polyP increases oxidative stress resistance by preventing stress-induced protein aggregation and promotes biofilm formation by stimulating functional amyloid formation.
