Inositol monophosphatase (IMPase) is a crucial enzyme for the biosynthesis of phosphatidylinositol, an essential component in mycobacterial cell walls. IMPase A (ImpA) from <i>Mycobacterium smegmatis</i> is a bifunctional enzyme that also functions as a fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBPase).
