Electron attachment dissociation (electron capture dissociation (ECD) and electron transfer dissociation (ETD)) applied to gaseous multiply protonated peptides leads predominantly to backbone N-C<sub>α</sub> bond cleavages and the formation of c- and z-type fragment ions.
