The milk thistle (<i>Silybum marianum</i> (L.) Gaertn.) compound silibinin may be an inhibitor of the angiotensin II type 1 (AT<sub>1</sub>) receptor which is expressed in differentiating embryonic stem (ES) cells and is involved in the regulation of cardiomyogenesis.
