The group 1B phospholipase A2 (PLA2G1B) is a secreted phospholipase that catalyzes the hydrolytic removal of the sn-2 fatty acyl moiety from phospholipids. This enzyme is synthesized most abundantly in the pancreas and is also expressed in the lung. The first part of this review article focuses on the role of pancreatic-derived PLA2G1B in mediating lipid absorption and discusses how the PLA2G1B-derived metabolic product contributes to cardiometabolic diseases, including obesity, hyper ...[more]
