Lipin 1 regulates glycerolipid homeostasis by acting as a phosphatidic acid phosphohydrolase (PAP) enzyme in the triglyceride-synthesis pathway and by regulating transcription factor activity. Mutations in human lipin 1 are a common cause of recurrent rhabdomyolysis in children.
