β-dystroglycan (β-DG) is a key component of multiprotein complexes in the plasma membrane and nuclear envelope. In addition, β-DG undergoes two successive proteolytic cleavages that result in the liberation of its intracellular domain (ICD) into the cytosol and nucleus.
