Complete Genome Sequence of Aeromonas Phage ZPAH7 with Halo Zones, Isolated in China.

ABSTRACT: Phage ZPAH7, isolated from a sediment sample from a fish farm, is a novel lytic phage belonging to the Podoviridae family. It produces large plaques (3.5 ± 0.2 mm) with halo zones (10.5 ± 0.5 mm), suggesting it has the ability to depolymerize exopolysaccharides and biofilms. It has a 30,791-bp genome encoding 29 putative coding sequences.

Project description:Aeromonas hydrophila is one of the major pathogenic bacteria for fish and people. To develop an effective antimicrobial agent, we isolated a bacteriophage from sewage, named CC2, and sequenced its genome. Comparative genome analysis of phage CC2 with its relatives revealed that phage CC2 has higher sequence homology to A. salmonicida phage 65 than to A. hydrophila phage Aeh1. Here, we announce the complete genome sequence of CC2 and report major findings from the genomic analysis.

Complete genome sequence of Paracoccus marcusii phage vB_PmaS-R3 isolated from the South China Sea.

Project description:Paracoccus spp. are isolated from both terrestrial and aquatic habitats, indicating their ubiquitous existence in the environment. Here we present the first phage isolated from this genus, vB_PmaS-R3, and its complete genome sequence. Paracoccus phage vB_PmaS-R3 is a siphophage isolated from the South China Sea. The genome sequence is 42,093 bp, with a G?+?C content of 56.36 %. Fifty-two open reading frames were predicted from the genome. The genome can mainly be divided into three regions: genes for DNA metabolism, regulatory genes and structure forming genes. Genes encoding DNA metabolism and structural proteins showed high sequence homology to corresponding genes of Burkholderia phage KL1 and Pseudomonas phage PA73. In addition, four gene transfer agent-like genes were found in the vB_PmaS-R3 genome. A putative L-alanoyl-D-glutamate peptidase was predicted as the endolysin. A MazG gene was found in the vB_PmaS-R3 genome, which indicates genomic adaption to the nutrient-limited marine environment.

Complete Genome Sequence of Aeromonas hydrophila Strain Y-S01, Isolated from Diseased Dark Sleeper (Odontobutis potamophila) in China.

Project description:Aeromonas hydrophila is one of the most important pathogenic bacteria for aquaculture animals, such as fish and crustaceans. In this study, we isolated a pathogenic bacterial strain, named Y-SC01, from dark sleeper (Odontobutis potamophila) with rotten gills; the strain was identified as A. hydrophila by physiological and biochemical tests. Furthermore, we sequenced its genome and assembled a chromosome of 4.72 Mb with a GC content of 58.55%, and we report major findings based on the genomic analysis.

Here, we report the complete annotated genome of bacteriophage SA75, a member of the Siphoviridae family which could be an alternative to traditional antibiotics for treating Staphylococcus infections. We used a hybrid approach combining MinION and Illumina MiSeq sequencing, which yielded a 43,134-bp genome and 65 open reading frames.
