Biliverdin reductase B (BLVRB) is a newly identified cellular redox regulator that catalyzes the NADPH-dependent reduction of multiple substrates. Through mass spectrometry analysis, we identified high levels of BLVRB in mature red blood cells, highlighting the importance of BLVRB in redox regulation.
