After entry into the host cell, the intracellular parasite <i>Toxoplasma gondii</i> resides within a membrane-bound compartment, the parasitophorous vacuole (PV). The PV defines an intracellular, parasite-specific niche surrounded by host organelles, including the Golgi apparatus.
