Genome Sequence of an Arthroconidial Yeast, Saprochaete fungicola CBS 625.85.

ABSTRACT: Saprochaete fungicola is an arthroconidial yeast classified in the Magnusiomyces/Saprochaete clade of the subphylum Saccharomycotina. Here, we report the genome sequence of holotype strain CBS 625.85, assembled to five putative chromosomes. The genome sequence is 20.2 Mbp long and codes for 6,138 predicted proteins.

Project description:We report the genome sequencing of the yeast Lachancea lanzarotensis CBS 12615(T). The assembly comprises 24 scaffolds, for a total size of 11.46 Mbp. The annotation revealed 5,058 putative protein-coding genes. Detection of seven centromeres supports a chromosome fusion, which occurred after divergence from Lachancea thermotolerans and Lachancea kluyveri.

Assembly and Analysis of the Genome Sequence of the Yeast Brettanomyces naardenensis CBS 7540.

Project description:Brettanomyces naardenensis is a spoilage yeast with potential for biotechnological applications for production of innovative beverages with low alcohol content and high attenuation degree. Here, we present the first annotated genome of B. naardenensis CBS 7540. The genome of B. naardenensis CBS 7540 was assembled into 76 contigs, totaling 11,283,072 nucleotides. In total, 5168 protein-coding sequences were annotated. The study provides functional genome annotation, phylogenetic analysis, and discusses genetic determinants behind notable stress tolerance and biotechnological potential of B. naardenensis.

Project description:This is the first report of the genome sequence of Trichosporon asahii environmental strain CBS 8904, which was isolated from maize cobs. Comparison of the genome sequence with that of clinical strain CBS 2479 revealed that they have >99% chromosomal and mitochondrial sequence identity, yet CBS 8904 has 368 specific genes. Analysis of clusters of orthologous groups predicted that 3,307 genes belong to 23 functional categories and 703 genes were predicted to have a general function.
