The large pore ion channel pannexin-1 (Panx1) has been reported to play a role in the cellular uptake and release of anandamide (AEA) in the hippocampus. It is not known whether this is a general mechanism or limited to the hippocampus. We have investigated this pharmacologically using T84 colon cancer cells.
